Day 1a Action
The field of 76 runners, which included Phillip Krnyaich,Joseph Burns, Gloria Jackson and others, dwindled down as the day went on.
Early in the day, Joseph Caligiure tripled up when he made quad fours in a three-way pot, though he had been short before the triple and was out a few hands later.
Later on, Lucas Tae, who just yesterday shipped Event #5: $600 NLH for $7,911, was eliminated by Margel Costa when his queen-jack couldn't improve against the pocket queens of Costa. Unfortunately for Costa, she was also eliminated before the day ended.
In the final hand of the day, a short-stacked player moved all-in on the flop with two pair and got called by Charles, who had a pair and a straight draw. Charles ultimately hit his straight and sent the player to the rail on the Day 2 bubble.
The ten players who bagged Day 1a will return for Day 2 on Sunday, May 1 to battle with the survivors of the other flights. All players will be in the money and become "mystery bounties" on Day 2, with a $50,000 bounty up for grabs.
Day 1b will kick off Friday at noon local time and follow the same structure as Day 1a. Stay tuned as PokerNews will be on-site and ready to report on the Day 1b action.
