"GT" Jack Sends One Home
"GT" Jack Sumner was in early position and opened to 600. Three calls ensued from the cutoff, small blind, and big blind, the last of whom was Darren Elias.
Action checked to Sumner on the flop and he made a continuation-bet of 1,100. The cutoff and Elias called with the small blind folding in between the two, and the turn came . Elias checked again and Sumner continued with a second barrel of 3,000. Elias checked again and Sumner fired a second barrel of 3,000. The cutoff shoved all in for 3,900, and Elias put out chips to call after some thought. Sumner then threw in 900 more to make the pot square as well.
With heads-up action to a side pot, the river fell to complete the runout and Elias checked one last time. Sumner fired out another 8,000 and Elias quickly let his hand go.
Jack Sumner:
Opponent:
Sumner's flopped top two pair had successfully faded his opponent's flopped flush draw and turned gutshot straight draw to go along with it, earning him the pot and the knockout to take him well over two starting stacks shortly before the first break of the day.
