Guerin Spikes River to Double
We arrived just in time to catch the tail end of a hand between Didier Guerin and Sam Higgs. We caught the action on a flop of with Guerin (button) betting out for 5,300 following a Higgs check from the small blind.
Higgs check-raised to what looked to be around 12,600 though Guerin moved in over the top and Higgs called so quickly it was difficult to get an exact count before the hand played out.
Both players had flopped two pairs with Higgs having the best of it holding versus the of Guerin, who had already stood up and started packing his stuff.
The turn did not change anything but just as Guerin was about to head for the rail he spiked the river to fill up and steal the pot out from under Higgs’ nose. Higgs slumped forward in disbelief holding his head in his hands as Guerin patted him consolingly on the back and apologized for that cruel twist of fate.
