Engels Over 700K

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

On the button, Mustapha Kanit raised to 9,000. Daniel Engels made the call from the big blind, and the flop came down {5-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}. Both players checked, and the turn was the {6-Hearts}. Engels bet 8,000, and Kanit called.

The river was the {Q-Hearts}, and Engels bet 21,500. Kanit made the call, but couldn't beat the {7-Spades}{4-Diamonds} that Engels turned over for a straight and mucked his hand.

Aggression Pays for Kanit

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

Sailendra Sha started things off with a raise to 9,000 from middle position, and then Renjun Yang reraised to 21,500 from the hijack seat. Play folded to Mustapha Kanit in the small blind, and he reraised to 48,000. Sha folded, but Yang made the call to see the flop.

The flop was {8-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds}, and Kanit bet 42,000. Yang made the call, and the turn brought the {8-Diamonds} to pair the board. Kanit moved all in, which was a bet effectively worth approximately 130,000, as that's what Yang had left. Yang tanked for a bit, then folded, and Kanit was pushed the pot.

Damelian Crippled By Monaghan

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

We're not sure of the preflop action, but we do know that Adam Monaghan got his stack of 72,000 all in preflop and was at risk against Robert Damelian.

Damelian: {8-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}
Monaghan: {q-Clubs}{q-Hearts}

Despite being a heavy favorite, Monaghan was clearly nervous that his tournament life was on the line. He had no need to fear though as the {5-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{q-Spades} flop gave him a full house. The {10-Hearts} turn left Damelian drawing dead, and he sent over the majority of his chips after the {A-Clubs} was put out on the river.

Reijmer Cripples Seidel, Chidwick Knocks Him Out

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Erik Seidel
Erik Seidel

Via Daniel Reijmer we found out what had happened to Erik Seidel, who we just caught getting knocked out by Stephen Chidwick.

Seidel raised from the hijack and Reijmer three-bet from the button with pocket kings. The flop brought out {2-}{2-Clubs}{6-Clubs} and Seidel check-called a bet from the Dutchman. On the turn, a {5-}, the action got checked again, and the river was a {2-}.

Seidel lead out for 45,000 on the river and Reijmer moved all in for an additional 100,000. Seidel went into the tank before calling, and mucked when Reijmer showed his big pocket pair.

The number three on the all-time money list thought he got knocked out, but after counting down the chips he was left with 2,000. Seidel had to be called back to the table, and on the very next hand he was all in again.

Stephen Chidwick called from the small blind and Fabian Quoss checked in the big blind, putting {4-Spades}{6-Spades}{J-Clubs} on the flop. Chidwick got Quoss to fold, and the showdown went as follows.

Chidwick: {J-Spades}{8-Spades}
Seidel: {K-Diamonds}{7-Spades}

The board ran out {5-Hearts}, {4-Hearts} and Seidel was sent to the rail while joking he busted the tournament twice, after thinking he was knocked out on the previous hand.

Barer Busts

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante
Ami Barer
Ami Barer

Ami Barer, winner of the Aussie Millions two years ago for A$1,600,000 ($1,399,739), has just been eliminated.

Mustapha Kanit opened to 9,000 and Daniel Engels made the call. Ami Barer right behind him squeezed all in for just over 100,000 and Kanit folded. Engels made the call having flatted with {Q-}{Q-}. Barer had {A-}{K-} suited but failed to improve.

With the departure of Barer, the tournament has now lost all its former champions.

Lorch Picks the Wrong Time to Shove

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

With around 70,000 already in the pot and a board reading {q-Spades}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{j-Spades}, it appeared Jackson Lorch had shoved for 66,500 and Moritz Dietrich called.

Lorch: {a-Hearts}{10-Hearts}
Dietrich: {a-Clubs}{a-Diamonds}

Lorch needed a king and a king only to stay alive, but it was not in the cards as the {7-Spades} blanked on the river.
