O'Dwyer Continues to Apply Pressure

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante

Steve O'Dwyer raised to 45,000 from the hijack with the {k-Spades}{q-Hearts} and Byron Kaverman defended from the big blind with the {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Kaverman then check-called a bet of 65,000 on the {4-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} flop, and then check-called one of 140,000 on the {8-Clubs} turn.

When the {3-Clubs} completed the board on the river, Kaverman checked for a third time and then hit the tank when O'Dwyer bet 300,000. Approximately five minutes passed before Kaverman opted to lay down his hand, which unbeknownst to him was the winner.

Squeeze from Peters

Level 12 : 10,000/20,000, 3,000 ante
David Peters
David Peters

From the hijack seat, Fabian Quoss raised to 40,000 with an unknown hand. Connor Drinan called on the button with the {A-Spades}{4-Spades}, and Byron Kaverman called from the small blind with the {5-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}. David Peters had other things in mind with the {Q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} in the big blind, and he reraised to 133,000. One by one, each of his opponents folded, and Peters won the pot.

Kurganov Done In By Kaverman's Big Slick

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Igor Kurganov
Igor Kurganov

Byron Kaverman raised to 35,000 from early position, and when action reached Igor Kurganov in the small blind, he three-bet all in for 208,000 total. Paul Newey folded from the big blind and Kaverman snap-called.

Kaverman: {a-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Kurganov: {a-Spades}{4-Spades}

It was a bad spot for Kurganov, and he watched helplessly as the board ran out a useless {a-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{6-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{3-Diamonds} to send him home emptyhanded in seventh place.

O'Dwyer's Makes Two Pair; Kurganov Folds Two Pair

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Steve O'Dwyer
Steve O'Dwyer

Form the hijack seat, Byron Kaverman raised to 36,000 with the {A-Hearts}{7-Spades}. Steve O'Dwyer called on the button with the {A-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}, and Igor Kurganov called from the big blind with the {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}.

The flop hit both Kurganov and O'Dwyer when it came {J-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Clubs}. O'Dwyer hit it the hardest with top pair, Kurganov had middle pair, and Kaverman missed completely. Kurganov checked, and Kaverman also checked. O'Dwyer bet 67,000, and Kurganov made the call. That was Kaverman's cue to get out of the way, and he did so with a fold.

The turn was the {3-Diamonds}, pairing the bottom card on the board. Kurganov checked with his inferior two pair, and O'Dwyer tossed out a bet of 92,000 with his better two pair. Kurganov tanked, then folded, and O'Dwyer won the pot.

Tollerene Exits in 8th Place

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante
Ben Tollerene
Ben Tollerene

Igor Kurganov opened for 37,000 only to have Ben Tollerene three-bet all in for 267,000 from the cutoff. Byron Kaverman then called from the big blind, Kurganov folded, and the cards were turned up.

Kaverman: {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}
Tollerene: {q-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}

Tollerene had a kicker problem, which came into play when both player paired their jack on the {4-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{j-Hearts} flop. Neither the {7-Spades} turn nor {K-Spades} river helped Tollerene, and the $100,000 Challenge runner up hit the rail in eight place.

Drinan Takes from Kurganov

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Connor Drinan raised to 40,000 from middle position with the {a-Hearts}{9-Spades} and Igor Kurganov defended the big blind holding the {7-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}. Kurganov then check-called a bet of 40,000 on the {9-Hearts}{7-Spades}{3-Hearts} flop, but then check-folded to one of 75,000 on the {8-Diamonds} turn despite picking up an up-and-down straight draw.

O'Dwyer Shoves the Turn

Level 11 : 8,000/16,000, 2,000 ante

Play folded to David Peters in the small blind, and he limped in with the {8-Spades}{6-Spades}. Steve O'Dwyer raised to 48,000 from the big blind with the {Q-Hearts}{10-Hearts}, and Peters made the call.

The {9-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} flop prompted a check from Peters and a bet of 54,000 from O'Dwyer. Peters, with a gutshot straight draw, called.

The turn was the {J-Spades}, and Peters checked. O'Dwyer moved all in for 275,000, and Peters gave it up.
