Douaglin Raising Big; Gets Shoved On

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Joel Douaglin has come back with a plan to raise big preflop.

He opened to 620,000 from the button and took the blinds and antes.

The very next hand he raised to 400,000 but folded when James Rann shoved for 1,755,000 from the big blind.

Rast Pushes Off Douaglin

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Brian Rast raised to 275,000 under the gun and Joel Douaglin called from the cutoff. The rest of the players folded, the flop fell {q-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{5-Spades}, and Rast checked to Douaglin, who bet 375,000. Rast thought for about a minute before announcing he was all in for 1.355 million, and Douaglin gave it up.

Brian Rast Eliminated in 5th Place (AU$315,000)

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante
Brian Rast - 5th Place
Brian Rast - 5th Place

Brian Rast has been eliminated in fifth place and went around and shook all the hands of the remaining players before he left the TV set.

He'd opened to 240,000 from the button and Lennart Uphoff called from the big blind to see an {8-Hearts}{3-Spades}{2-Spades} flop appear. Rast continued for 295,000 and Uphoff check-called to the {2-Hearts} turn.

Rast moved all in when checked to and Uphoff snap called.

Rast: {k-Spades}{10-Spades} for a flush draw.
Uphoff: {a-Spades}{a-Diamonds} for a slowed played pair of aces.

The river was the {4-Hearts}, missing Rast's flush draw and sending the pot the German's way. His commanding lead just got a whole lot greater.

Douaglin Has the Goods

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Lennart Uphoff raised to 250,000 from under the gun and Joel Douaglin defended from the big blind. The {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts}{4-Spades} flop saw Douaglin check-call a bet of 225,000, and then both players checked the {4-Clubs} turn. When the {2-Spades} completed the board on the river, Douaglin led out for 600,000 and Uphoff called.

Douaglin rolled over the {6-Spades}{6-Clubs} for a full house, and Uphoff quickly mucked.

Manny on the Move

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Manny Stavropoulos undoubtedly has the biggest support of any of the remaining four players and their vocal cords could be heard loud and clear after their man scooped a decent sized pot with a straight.

He had opened to 375,000 from under the gun and was only called by Joel Douaglin in the small blind. The flop spread {k-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} and Douaglin check-called 375,000 before both players checked the {9-Spades} turn. The river came as the {q-Diamonds} to put a straight on the board and Douaglin wasted little time in calling when Stavropoulos bet 450,000.

Stavropoulos opened {k-Hearts}{j-Spades} for a king high straight, beating out Douaglin's {a-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}.

Stavropoulos on a Heater

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Manny Stavropoulos raised from the button — how much we're not quite sure — and Joel Doauglin called from the big blind. Both players checked the {10-Hearts}{5-Diamonds}{a-Spades} flop, and then Douaglin check-called a bet of 350,000 on the {Q-Clubs} turn.

When the {4-Spades} completed the board on the river, Douaglin shifted gears and led out for 350,000. Stavropoulos paused for a moment before raising to 775,000, and Douaglin thought for about a minute before calling with the {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}. It was no good as though as Stavropoulos held the nuts with the {k-Hearts}{j-Hearts} for a Broadway straight.

Uphoff Verus Stavropoulos

Level 31 : 60,000/120,000, 20,000 ante

Lennart Uphoff forced Manny Stavropoulos off a hand to re-extend his lead at the top.

Uphoff raised from the small blind, bet 325,000 on the flop and 675,000 on the turn. Stavropoulos stuck with his German opponent but folded with the board reading {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{5-Spades}{9-Hearts}.

Little Action

Level 32 : 80,000/160,000, 20,000 ante

Since returning from the dinner break there haven't been any huge hands.

In one, Lennart Uphoff received a walk in the big blind. It was probably a wise decision by the other players as the German showed {a-}{q-}.

In the next, Joel Douaglin raised to 650,000 from the button and took down the blinds.
