Phil Ivey Leads After Day 1 and Aims for Third Title
Today marked the fifth time the LK Boutique $250,000 Challenge has taken place at the Aussie Millions, and two out of the previous four times it's been Phil Ivey who has captured the title. After Day 1, Ivey led those who advanced, and with 10 players left he's in prime position to win this event once again. Ivey bagged 958,000 in chips, with Doug Polk sitting in second place with 863,000. Polk is operating on his second bullet.
Speaking of multiple bullets, Scott Seiver fired three buy-ins of AU$250,000. He finished the day on 632,000 in chips, which was good enough for fourth place overall.
Other notables remaining include Richard Yong and Ole Schemion, who are coming off the $100,000 Challenge conclusion last night that saw the two battle heads up for the title. Yong emerged victorious in that event and captured the AU$1.87 million top prize, and Schemion earned AU$1.35 million for second place.
Of those eliminated on the day that opted not to reenter yet were Ryan Fee, Isaac Haxton, Steve O'Dwyer, Philipp Gruissem, and Sam Trickett.
A field of 23 entries was generated on Day 1, but that number could see an increase with registration and reentry open until the start of Day 2. The cards are scheduled to be in the air at 2:30 p.m. local time, and once registration closes the prize pool and payouts will be tallied up. Tomorrow's going to be another exciting day of poker, so be sure to return right here to PokerNews for all the action as the LK Boutique $250,000 Challenge plays down to a winner.
