The Hachem family is very, very well known around these parts in Australia, and especially when it comes to poker at Crown and the Aussie Millions. To further add to that, Anthony Hachem, son of world champion Joe Hachem, just won the $600 No-Limit Hold'em Cubed Event.
The event attracted 94 entrants and generated a prize pool of AU$117,000. For his win, Hachem took home AU$37,500. This came just hours after his Anthony's uncle, Tony Hachem, took sixth in the $2,500 Six-Handed Event for AU$30,000.
Patrik Antonius opened to 160,000 on the button, Joseph Cabret three-bet to what looked like 500,000 from the big blind, and the flop fell . Cabret led out for 650,000, and Antonius tanked for the better part of a minute before folding.
After nearly six hours since the last elimination, a monster pot just went down that resulted in the elimination of Australian Jarrod Glennon.
It happened when Joe Cabret opened for 160,000 under the gun for 160,000 and then called when Glennon three-bet to 375,000 from the button. Cabret then check-called a bet of 325,000 on the flop before leading out for 825,000 on the turn. Glennon called, the peeled off on the river, and Cabret moved all in.
Glennon hit the tank for a solid eight minutes weighing the decision. He shifted in his chair, shook his head, and continued to ruffle chips. Eventually he called off his remaining 2 million or so and Cabret revealed for a flush. Glennon looked crushed and simply tossed his cards to the dealer before exiting the tournament in fifth place for AU$290,000.
Dan Shak opened to 170,000 from early position, Jarrod Glennon defended his big blind, and the flop fell . Glennon checked, Shak tossed out 150,000, and Glennon called.
The turn brought the , both players checked, and the completed the board. Glennon checked a third time, Shak fired 400,000, and Glennon folded.
Patrik Antonius opened for 160,000 from the cutoff only to have Joseph Cabret three-bet to 375,000 from the button. The blinds both folded and Antonius thought for a long time before making the call. Both players then checked the flop and the appeared on the turn.
Antonius led out for 400,000, Cabret called, and then both players returned to checking on the river, which we didn't quite see. Cabret tabled but it was no good as Antonius held . The ten kicker played and Antonius was pushed the pot.
Patrik Antonius opened to 160,000 on the button, Dan Shak three-bet to 500,000 from the small blind, and Antonius asked Shak for a count. Shak gave him a rough estimate, and then stared down the Fin. Antonius did not stare back, rather he stared at a single spot on the felt.
This one-man staredown went on for the better part of two minutes, until Shak finally turned away.
Antonius tanked for around 30 seconds more, then folded.
