Lam vs. Betts

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Man Hei Lam opened to 24,000 from the cutoff seat, Mark Betts called on the button, and both blinds released.

The flop fell {10-Spades}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}, Lam led out for 22,000, and Betts raised to 65,000. Lam called.

The turn was the {7-Clubs}, both players checked, and the {7-Spades} completed the board. Lam tossed out a minimum bet of 12,000 and Betts quickly called. Lam turned over a black {10-}{8-}, but Betts had that beat with {j-Hearts}{10-Diamonds} for tens and sevens with a higher kicker.

Lin Done in by the Shak Attack

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante
Celina Lin (Day 2) - 24th Place
Celina Lin (Day 2) - 24th Place

Action folded around to the lovely Celina Lin on the button and he moved all in for right around 165,000. The small blind folded, and then Dan Shak squeezed out his cards from the big before whispering, "I call."

Shak: {9-Spades}{9-Hearts}
Lin: {8-Clubs}{8-Diamonds}

Lin has been fighting hard all day and even double numerous times, but the look on her face suggested she knew this might really be the real end. The {6-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{q-Spades} flop brought calls for a seven from Lin's rail, but the dealer did not oblige as he burned and turned the {2-Clubs}. Lin needed an eight on the river to stay alive, but she wouldn't find salvation as the {3-Diamonds} peeled off.

Shak added chips to his already monstrous stack while Lin, who had a smile on her face, sought consolation from Kenny Wong on the rail.

A Double for the Local

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

The action folded to Joseph Cabret, who opened to 24,000 in late position. Jeremy Simon three-bet to 62,000 out of the blinds, Cabret four-bet to 150,000, and Simon moved all in for effectively 323,000. Cabret snapped it off.

Simon: {k-Spades}{k-Clubs}
Cabret: {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}

The board ran out {3-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{4-Hearts}{3-Clubs}{2-Clubs}, and Cabret doubled to around 655,000 chips. Once the announcment was made, the room broke out into a chorus of cheers for the local.

"Go on, Joe!" one man yelled from the cash game section.

Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Action folded around to Kitty Kuo on the button and she open-shipped for right around 220,000. The small blind folded and then Damian Baldi snap-called from the big after looking down at {A-Clubs}{A-Spades} in the big blind. Kou sheepishly turned over {J-Clubs}{8-Clubs} and was in big trouble.

The {7-Spades}{9-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} flop gave Kou a little help as she picked up a gutshot straight draw, and the {8-Spades} turn opened even more doors as it paired her eight. The crowd let loose with a collective, "Ohhhhh," upon seeing the turn, which turned to gasps when the {J-Hearts} spiked on the river. Kou, who made two pair to stay alive, literally screamed in delight while Baldi say motionless.

Hei Lam & Cabret Off to the Races

Level 19 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Joseph Cabret moved all in for 175,000 from the cutoff holding {a-Diamonds}{K-Clubs} and recieved a call from Man Hei Lam, who woke up with {J-Spades}{J-Clubs} in the big blind. It was a flip, but not after the {k-Hearts}{9-Clubs}{k-Diamonds} flop gave Cabret trips. The {10-Clubs} turn gave Hei Lam some straight outs, but the {10-Spades} river wouldn't complete it. Cabret won the flip to double to 350,000 while Hei Lam dropped to below a million.
