Dan Kelly Eliminated in 4th Place (A$65,000)

Dan Kelly - 4th Place
Dan Kelly - 4th Place

A short-stacked Dan Kelly opened for 6,000 on the button only to have Dominykas Karmazinas three-bet to 16,500. When action came back around to Kelly, he moved all in for around 55,000 and Karmazinas snap-called.

Showdown

Kelly{A-Diamonds}{J-Clubs}
Karmazinas{7-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}

It was a classic flip, but Kelly needed to improve to keep his tournament hopes alive. Unfortunately for him, the board ran out an uneventful {4-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{5-Spades}{K-Clubs}{3-Clubs} and he was eliminated in fourth place, earning A$65,000.

Smith Cripples Kelly

Dominykas Karmazinas started off the action with a raise to 4,800 from the under the gun position. Elliot Smith called on the button and Kelly put in the extra chips from the big blinds.

The flop came down {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} and it got checked to Smith who bet 5,400. Kelly was next to act and he threw in a check-raise to 20,400. Karmazinas gave up his hand after which Smith made the call.

The turn was the {5-Clubs} and Kelly put out a bet of 36,000. Smith couldn’t decided wether he wanted to call, raise or fold and it took him well over three minutes, and a lot of sighing, before he made the call.

On the river the {5-Diamonds} hit and Kelly checked to Smith who pushed all-in for 71,900. Kelly made the call and mucked when Smith turned over {Q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds}. Kelly is knocked all the way down to just 32,000 while Smith is now firmly in second place behind the massive chip stack of Karmazinas.

Kelly vs. Smith

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 300 ante

Dan Kelly raised to 5,100 from the cutoff and Dan Kelly three-bet to 14,400 from the small blind. After a few moment's thought, Smith made the call and watched the flop fall {5-Hearts}{K-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}. Kelly fired out 15,500, and Smith folded. Not too exciting, but indicative of what we've been seeing since the elimination of Tony G.

Dominykas Karmazinas raised from the cut-off to 4,800 and Elliot Smith called from the button. From the big blind Tony G also committed the chips after which the flop came down {7-Hearts}{8-Hearts}{3-Spades}. Tony checked to Karmazinas who bet 5,900 and Smith folded his cards. Tony G threw his remaining chips into the pot, and just a couple of seconds later Karmazinas made the call.

Tony G{K-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

The turn was the {Q-Spades} and the river the {A-Clubs} delivering the final blow to Tony G who got up from his seat, shook some hands, and left the tournament area. We are now down to just four players. The next player to bust will receive A$65,000.

Tran Slipping

JC Tran raised to 5,500 under the gun and Elliot Smith made the call from the big blind. Both players checked the {9-Clubs}{8-Hearts}{3-Hearts} flop, leading to the {6-Clubs} turn. Smith took the initiative and led out for 7,000, Tran called, and the {Q-Spades} hit the river.

Again Smith led out for 7,000 and Tran called, the latter mucking when the former rolled over {J-Clubs}{10-Hearts} for the rivered nuts.
