There Will Be No Title Defense: Drewe & Judah Sent Packing

Talk about being in the right place at the right time. We just so happened to wonder by Table 26 when a monster pot was developing. From what we pieced together, defending champ Martin Drewe was under the gun and either raised or shipped, which was called by both Panchara Wongwichit and Mel Judah. Tony Delavinias then put in a huge three-bet from the small blind, one that had everyone else covered.

Drewe was in, and Wongwichit thought long and hard before releasing his hand. Judah, who had about 45,000 back, made the call and the cards were turned up:

Showdown
Drewe: {10-Spades}{9-Spades}
Judah: {A-Diamonds}{K-Diamonds}
Delavinias: {A-Clubs}{A-Hearts}

Delavinias was in a dominating spot, though the {10-Clubs}{4-Diamonds}{8-Hearts} flop gave Drewe some hope. The {Q-Spades} turn gave Judah a gut-shot straight draw, but the {8-Spades} river paired the board and allowed Delavinias to score the double elimination. Not only that, Wilson went on to win the next to hands and is literally still stacking his chips. Near as we can tell, he has at least 330K.

Meanwhile, there will be no repeat winner as Drewe, the 2011 Opening Event Champion, has been eliminated .
