Number Two is Number One for Portaro
Bruno Portaro has managed to take another two pots off Richard Ashby in two different games as this Ashes-esque heads-up battle continues.
Pot Limit Omaha
Portaro limped in from the button, Ashby checked and both players elected to check down the flop of and the turn of the before Ashby led out on the river of the . Portaro called, tabling for two pair and Ashby mucked his hand.
2-7 Triple Draw
The game then changed to 2-7 Triple Draw two hands later; again, Portaro limped in from the button and Ashby checked before electing to draw four cards to Bruno's one. Portaro was first to act (the heads-up rule states that the button always acts first in this game) and led out for 6,000, but Ashby raised to 12,000, much to Portaro's surprise.
"You draw four cards and raise me?" he asked before calling. Both players then took one card each on the second draw and Portaro check-called Ashby's bet before taking another card on the final draw. Ashby elected to stand pat.
Portaro led out, Ashby called and Portaro quickly turned up his cards. "If you've got me this time, then I'm going to throw something," he exclaimed as he rolled up what they call "number two" - - the second-best low hand in the game. Ashby tapped the table and folded.
