Portlen Powering; Kamel Clashing with Aristidou

Eugene Portlen has made a huge comeback. On the brink of elimination early in the tournament at just 375 chips, Portlen has got on a golden run moving up to 188,000. He's currently the chipleader.

Hassan Kamel and Peter Aristidou are getting a little bit of a friendly rivalry. Things got a little chippy between Kamel and Aristidou earlier when Kamel refused to show after winning a hand against Aristidou.

Aristidou looked visibly angry after the hand. They clashed again recently with Martin Copeland, Aristidou and Kamel all contributing 6,000 chips on a flop {k-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Clubs}.

On the turn {8-Diamonds} both Kamel and Copeland checked to Aristidou who fired 26,000. After some thought Kamel moved in for 68,000 and Copeland folded.

Aristidou stared Kamel down until his time ran out and his hand was mucked. "I had a low, but not the nut low," said Aristidou after a while.

Aristidou has 54,000. Kamel is up to 117,000.

Break Time

Players are taking a ten minute break. Thanks for bearing with us through the technical difficulties. At the conclusion of the break, we'll bring you up to speed with where we are at.

Judah Jumps High

Mel Judah has taken the high, leaving Trung Tran and Dean Francis to split the low in an interesting hand that played out recently.

On a flop of {k-Hearts}{5-Clubs}{6-Clubs} all three players shipped in their stacks with Francis and Tran having slightly more than Judah.

Francis: {A-Clubs}{8-Spades}{2-Diamonds}{7-Hearts}
Tran: {7-Diamonds}{2-Clubs}{a-Spades}{5-Diamonds}
Judah: {2-Hearts}{4-Clubs}{3-Hearts}{j-Hearts}

The board completed turn {4-Hearts} and river {8-Hearts}.

Judah grabbed the high with a flush, and the other two split the low.

Guzzardi Run Over By A Boat; Tough Table

Michael Guzzardi took a hit recently. He went three handed to a {j-Clubs}{j-Spades}{10-Spades} flop with 8,000 chips in the pot.

His two opponents checked to him, and Guzzardi bet out 3,500. One opponent folded, but after time in the tank the other player called.

The turn {10-Clubs} saw the opponent check, leaving 15,000 behind. Guzzardi set him all in and the opponent called.

Guzzardi: {2-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{8-Spades}{a-Hearts}
Opponent: {10-Hearts}{j-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}{Q-Clubs}

The river was the {5-Spades} leaving Guzzardi in no-mans land with just 7,500 chips after the hand.

The pick for toughest table has emerged with Peter Aristidou, Mel Judah, Oliver Gill, Eric Sclavos and Trung Tran all seated together. This also the table that Tony Green busted from early in the day.

We have 48 players left. Oh if you're not following this event, we don't blame you. Even the players in this event are showing more interest in the $100,000 tournament which is being shown on the various screens around the room at the moment.

That tournament is three handed between Phil Ivey, Dan Shak, and Bill Jordanou. You can check out the action by changing the event tab on the left.

Sam Khouiss Leads the Charge

Sam Khouiss is out in front at 64,300. When asked about how he chipped up in the early going Khouiss gave us, "I don't know, he had Ace-Deuce I rivered a straight, you know".

So he's out in front.
