Timex Holding Steady

Michael "Timex" McDonald has been playing patient poker today and hasn't been involved in too many pots. He take a recent pot down that was worth about 20,000 chips. He opened for 2,600 from the button, then called a reraise to 6,400 that was made by the small blind. The small blind led out for 5,000 on a flop of {10-Spades} {6-Clubs} {7-Diamonds}. McDonald called that bet, then took over the betting lead himself by making it 9,000 to go after the small blind checked the {8-Clubs} turn.

The small blind called that bet, taking the two players to the {10-Hearts} river. They both checked. McDonald was the last aggressor and therefore opened first, showing {A-Hearts} {7-Hearts} for two pair, tens and sevens. It was good.

Scotty Nguyen Runs Good

Sometimes the recipe for poker success is get your chips in bad and suck out. A roar went up from Scotty Nguyen's table a few moments ago because the "Prince of Poker" did just that. He was all in with {Q-Spades} {Q-Hearts} against an opponent's {K-Diamonds} {K-Hearts}. The flop was a safe {6-Clubs} {8-Clubs} {5-Clubs}, but Nguyen spiked a queen on the turn. His opponent couldn't return the favor on the river. It blanked out.

"I told you, baby," Nguyen joked after the hand.

Eric Assadourian “Comer”tose

Eric Assadourian eliminated
Eric Assadourian eliminated
Eric Assadourian has been eliminated by Martin Comer. With all the action occurring preflop, Assadourian raised to 3,500 from the cutoff and saw Comer play back to 10,500. Assadourian then moved all of his 38,500 chip stack into the middle and Comer made the call.

Assadourian: {k-Hearts}{k-Spades}
Comer: {j-Spades}{j-Diamonds}

The {10-Spades}{9-Spades}{4-Hearts} flop was fine for Assadourian. He was still wasn't really worried when the {q-Clubs} hit the turn, even though it did give Comer outs to an up and down straight. Of course the river {8-Hearts} was a slight issue, one that would send Assadourian to the rail.

Comer moves up to 101,000.

Jeffreys Eliminated

Andrew Jeffreys has been eliminated after a frustrating day of poker. Jeffreys started the day on the up early, but couldn't get any momentum after that, twice coming out on the wrong side of hands against Antonio Casale.

Finally Jeffreys moved what littled remained of his stack on the river, on a board reading {q-Clubs}{2-Diamonds}{k-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{8-Clubs}. Jeffreys tabled his {q-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds} which would unfortunately be out-kicked by his opponent's {A-Hearts}{q-Hearts}.

Jeffreys hits the rail for now, but we may see him playing in the $1,100 Omaha event in approximately 40 minutes.

Dodds Rockets Ahead

Joel "StrongPlay" Dodds
Joel "StrongPlay" Dodds
Joel Dodds fans will be happy to learn that "StrongPlay" finally found two cards within his range and his timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Dodds raised to 2,600 before Nino Marotta raised to 9,500 from the button. The blinds folded and Dodds deliberated for a long time before moving all in for 48,000. Marotta made the call.

Dodds: {A-Hearts}{A-Spades}
Marotta: {K-Hearts}{K-Spades}

The board landed {8-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{7-Clubs}{J-Hearts}{Q-Hearts} and Dodds sent Marotta to the rail as he now moves up to a healthy 100,000 chips.

Graham Doubles Through Comer

Jarred Graham was down to 16,500. He put all of those chips up for grabs preflop and was called by Martin Comer. Comer had a pocket pair, {7-Spades} {7-Hearts}, but Graham had a bigger pocket pair, {K-Spades} {K-Diamonds}. The board came {6-Clubs} {2-Hearts} {4-Hearts} {10-Spades} {6-Spades} to give Graham the double. He's still below par, but a bit healthier now with 35,000 chips. Comer is sitting on 63,000.

A Mountain for Michael

Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec
Michael Tureniec is sitting behind a mountain of chips after sending Sean Dunwoodie to the rail. Dunwoodie opened from middle position for 3,200. Tureniec was on the button with pocket kings and made it 9,200 to go. Dunwoodie responded by putting all 53,000 of his chips in the middle and of course Tureniec made the call. It turned out that Dunwoodie was on offsuited {A-?}{Q-?}. He whiffed the board completely, finishing with ace high after the board came {10-Hearts} {8-Diamonds} {6-Spades} {J-Diamonds} {3-Diamonds}. He retired to the rail while Tureniec spent a few minutes stacking his mountain of 314,000 chips.

McFadden Busts

McFadden out
McFadden out
Brian McFadden has been eliminated as he moved his short stack all in on a board of {10-Spades}{6-Hearts}{6-Clubs}{4-Spades}. McFadden held a strong {Q-Hearts}{Q-Clubs} for an overpair but found that his opponent Jeremy Joseph had flopped trips with {9-Diamonds}{6-Diamonds}.

Needing a queen to survive, the river was the {2-Hearts} to eliminate McFadden from the tournament as Joseph is out to 145,000 chips.

Steve Sung Sails Over 100,000

Steve Sung has sailed to 108,000 chips when his opponent incorrectly put Sung on a bluff. On a flop of {k-Hearts}{7-Spades}{10-Spades} Sung fired 2,500 which was called by both Tino Lechich and the unknown player.

On the turn {3-Diamonds} the opponent checked to Sung who bet 10,000, Lechich got out of the way, and the unknown player proceeded to check-raise all in to 23,000. Sung made the call and tabled top pair {k-Clubs}{j-Clubs}, and would be up against the {10-Hearts}{5-Hearts} of his opponent.

The river {8-Spades} was not a trouble card for Sung who move up to 108,000, eliminating the other player in the process.
