Robert Spano Bubbles, David Lim Player of the Year

Level 15 : 2,000/4,000, 500 ante

After more than an hour of hand-for-hand play the bubble has burst!

It was just a short while after Stephen Thompson doubled up.

Robert Spano was the all in player, getting 21,000 chips in from under the gun. The caller was Minh Nguyen on the button. It was Spano with {q-Diamonds}{8-Diamonds} against Nguyen with {a-Spades}{q-Spades}.

The {k-Diamonds}{10-Spades}{6-Diamonds} gave Spano the flush draw, but the {j-Clubs} turn gave Nguyen Broadway and with no diamond on the {j-Hearts} river, Spano was the official bubble boy. The 24 players have now locked up NZ$4,550.

This also means Australian David Lim is now guaranteed to be the ANZ Player of the Year! By finishing in the money here in Auckland, he surpasses Edison Nguyen at the top of the leader board – interesting considering Edison’s brother Minh was the player who burst the bubble to ensure this happened!

Speaking of Minh, the elimination of Spano saw him move his stack into the seven-figure territory.
