Welcome to APPT Macau!
Welcome to PokerNews' coverage of the 2012 PokerStars.net APPT Macau: Asia Championship of Poker Main Event! Today will no doubt be an exciting day of poker as plenty of players are in line to pony up the big buy-in of HKD$100,000 to play. That's roughly USD$13,000, which is much larger than most normal Main Events along the tournament circuit.
Last night, Jeff Rossiter earned the ACOP Warm-Up title, an event that had a buy-in of HKD$25,000. He earned a nice, big pay check worth HKD$1,777,000 for his victory.
Plenty of big names are expected for the event, including Team PokerStars Pros Raymond Wu, Celina Lin, Angel Guillen, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier and Eugene Katchalov. Defending champion and member of PokerStars Team Online Randy Lew should also be in action, and we'll keep you posted on his happenings throughout the day.
The day kicks off at 3:10 PM local time, and each player will begin with 30,000 in tournament chips. The levels will be 90 minutes in length.
Stay tuned, as the action will be kicking off shortly! While you wait, check out Lynn Gilmartin as she shows us around the room.
