Will the 2018 PokerStars.net APPT Manila ₱200,000 High Roller Breaks Records Too?
Welcome to Day 1 of the 2018 PokerStars.net APPT Manila ₱200,000 High Roller which starts at 8 pm local time. Last year’s edition of the High Roller during the PokerStars Festival attracted 47 runners with Peter Plater taking the win and ₱3,100,000 ($61,429) with him down under.
Looking at the other APPT High Rollers that have taken place earlier this year, Rainer Kempe took down the one in Macau (38 entries) for HK$1,203,000 ($153,294) in March. In Incheon there were 82 entries and Daniel Demicki took first place for KRW100,600,000 ($93,941).
With the Main Event breaking all the Asian records already, the organization is expecting that the High Roller field will be bigger than ever. A satellite started at 2:30 pm and attracted 35 players. Due to the unlimited amount of reentries possible, 5 players will walk away with a ticket to enter the actual High Roller.
The APPT High Roller will feature a 30-second shot clock and a big blind ante. Players will receive 50,000 in chips and 2 time bank chips (each worth 30 seconds). Players who survive the six levels that will be played on Day 1 will get an additional 2 time bank chips at the start of Day 2. Another 2 time bank chips will be issued to players who make the final table.
The players will play 6 40-minute levels on Day 1 with a 10-minute break after the third level of the day. Day 2 will restart at noon, Sunday, August 12 with the late registration and/or unlimited reentry period opened until the end of Level 12 at approximately 4:20 pm. A winner will be crowned by the end of the day and the PokerNews live reporting team will be on hand to provide you with all the action from start till finish.
