Wakeman Left for Dead

Level 12 : 1,200/2,400, 400 ante
Matt Wakeman
Matt Wakeman

Matt “mjw006” Wakeman was in the hijack when he opened it up to 5,000. The player in the big blind was the lone caller. The dealer flipped over a {7-Spades}{j-Clubs}{9-Diamonds} flop and both players checked. On the {6-Spades} turn, the big blind led for 6,000 and Wakeman called.

The board was completed with a {3-Spades} on the river and the player led again, this time making it 8,000 to go. Wakeman took a few moments before shoving all in, having his opponent covered by a small amount. The player called off around 20,000 and Wakeman tabled {10-Spades}{8-Spades} for a flopped straight and a rivered flush. However, Wakeman’s opponent flipped over {j-Spades}{9-Spades} for a cooler with the better flush and with that scooped the double while Wakeman was left with 6,300.
