Ace on the River Burns Cockburn

Level 1 : 50/100, 0 ante

Alan Lau opened for 300 from the hijack only to have Craig Cockburn three-bet to 700 from the button. Both blinds folded, Lau four-bet to 2,100, and Cockburn called, which brought about a flop of {j-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{2-Spades}. Lau was first to act and bet 2,200, which prompted Cockburn to call.

After the dealer had burned and turned the {3-Diamonds}, Lau bet 5,100, Cockburn called, and the {A-Spades} completed the board on the river. Lau thought for a few moments before checking, and Cockburn followed suit. Lau then tabled the {a-Clubs}{k-Hearts} for a rivered pair of aces, and Cockburn simply shook his head before sending his cards to the muck unseen.
