Sitting Duck

Ask Gordon Huntly, and he himself will tell you that he ran pretty hot at the ANZPT Sydney. We recall him cracking aces a couple of times that ultimately led to him winning the title.

It seems that poker karma has caught up with the Scotsman after a devastating and rapid exit from the APPT Cebu Main Event.

The action started with a raise to 425 from Andrew Nguyen, which collected three callers to see a flop of {2-Hearts}{q-Spades}{8-Diamonds}. Nguyen continuation bet for 1,325 before Huntly raised to 2,800 to force folds from the other two players. However Nguyen didn’t slow down, re-raising to 5,200. Huntly announced himself all in for around 14,000 and Nguyen made the call.

Nguyen showed {q-Clubs}{8-Clubs} for top two but Huntly was in the lead with {2-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} for a set of ducks. That all changed when the {Q-Diamonds} appeared on the turn, giving both players a full house but it was Nguyen’s queens full of eights which crushed Huntly’s ducks.

The river was the {4-Clubs} to see Huntly become the first casualty of the day.
