Just A Royal For Joel

Level 3 : 100/200, 0 ante

With a board showing {k-Clubs}{j-Hearts}{a-Clubs}{q-Clubs}{8-Diamonds} we came to the table just in time to see Joel Feldman table his {j-Clubs}{10-Clubs}.

The turned royal-flush was just about good enough to take down the pot and see Felman move back up to around 25,000.

Eight Out

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

A total of eight players have made their way to the exit within the first two levels of todays event, with 32 players now remaining of the total of 40 who started the day.

Trips Two good For Two Pair

We came to the action with a board showing {6-Diamonds}{j-Hearts}{q-Spades}{7-Spades}{8-Spades} and John Maklouf in a hand up against Antony Worch.

Maklouf was in the small blind position where he checked to Worch on the river. Worch threw out 5,000 and Maklouf thought for a few moments before making the call.

When Worch tabled his {q-Hearts}{q-Diamonds}, the flopped trips would be too good for the two-pair of Maklouf.

Watch Out Wang

Rachel Bellard is one of only two woman in today’s field and she has managed to start strong, taking it to Jacky Wang in the following hand.

Bellard was under the gun when she opened the pot to 350. Two callers would come along for the ride, including Jacky Wang in the big blind.
Flop: {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}{6-Spades}

Wang would opt for the check-call when Bellard led for 800 and with the other player out of the way, the turn would be dealt the {a-Diamonds}.

Wang again went for the check-call this time tanking before calling the 2,000 chip bet from Bellard. The {9-Hearts} on the river brought about a flush possibility and when Wang this time led for 5,550 Bellard went into the tank.

Bellard eventually decided to make the call, turning over {a-Hearts}{q-Spades} for top-pair. Wang tabled his {j-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} the flush representation, busted-straight and rivered top-pair not good enough for Bellard who took down the pot.

Rumble Of The Kiwis

Level 2 : 75/150, 0 ante

Both Koray Turker and Jackson Zheng are famliar faces on the APPT and both players are just as well known for their aggressive styles. The two New Zealand locals are sitting directly next to eachother over on their table and they up until now Turker and Zheng have been staying away from each other.

The action folded to the player on the button, who opened to 300. Turker then threw in a three-bet to 900 from the small blind, whereby Zheng chucked in the four-bet to 2,300 from the big blind. The button aggressor got out of the way and Turker decided to go for the five-bet, making it 6,000 to go. Zheng made the call and a flop would be dealt.

When the {5-Spades}{8-Diamonds}{7-Clubs} landed on the felt Turker would check-fold to a 5,200 chip bet from Zheng, deciding not to rumble with his fellow kiwi any longer in this hand, with Zheng showing {j-Hearts}{10-Hearts} for jack-high. There is surely going to be more fireworks over on this table, so stay tuned!

McBrien Busted By Brown

There was just over 7,000 already in the pot when we caught the action with a flop showing {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}{8-Hearts}. Semesa Brown was first to act and he made it 5,000 to see a turn. The player directly to Brown’s left made the call and David McBrien called for his last 4,700.

McBrien watched on as Brown was still in the hand with one opponent, both of whom would check on the {a-Diamonds} turn. The {j-Clubs} on the river would see Brown jam and his opponent got out of the way, while McBrien would now sweat for his tournament life.

Brown: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
McBrien: {10-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds}

The rivered straight wouldn’t be good enough for McBrien, with the turned full-house for Brown seeing him soar to 36,000 in chips.

Kiwi Farewells An Aussie

Aaron Benton was under the gun when he opened the pot to 400. The two New Zealander's on the table, Koray Turker and Jackson Zheng made the call and the three players would see the flop.

The flop landed {q-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds} and Benton would be first to act with a800 chip bet. Turker then popped it to 2,200 and Zheng got out of the way. Benton made the call.

The {q-Diamonds} prompted a check-raise all-in from Benton and with a call from Turker the players would turn their hands over.

Turker: {a-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}
Benton: {6-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}

The diamond on the turn was good enough to make both players a flush, but it was the nut-flush for Turker that would come up with the goods as Benton heads to the rail.
