Bouya Boxell Battle

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

Leo Boxell raised to 110,000 from under the gun and received the call from Phillip Willcocks in the small blind. Steve Bouya would also come along for the ride from the big blind.

Flop: {j-Hearts}{7-Clubs}{5-Diamonds}

Willcocks and Bouya checked to Boxell who fired out 150,000. Willcocks got out of the way, while Bouya called and watched as the {4-Hearts} hit the turn. Both players checked and the {q-Spades} landed on the river, whereby both players opted to check again.

Boxell tabled {a-Hearts}{k-Diamonds} and Bouya showed {10-Spades}{7-Spades}, his pair of sevens good enough to take the pot down.

Willcocks Loses But Still Leads

Steve Bouya has just lost his nephew at the table, with Marcus the last elminated. Marcus can be seen by the rail, still watching on.

Bouya raiased to 80,000 from under the gun and Phillip Willcocks made the call from the big blind

The {k-Hearts}{a-Spades}{4-Spades} brought about a check-call from Willcocks and the {a-Clubs} was dealt on the turn. Again, Willcocks opted for the check-call as the {q-Spades} hit the river. Willcocks checked and when Bouya threw in a pot-sized bet, Willcocks sent his cards into the muck.

Van Marcus Eliminated in 5th Place (A$73,300)

Van Marcus - 5th Place
Van Marcus - 5th Place

Van Marcus started the day with one of the shortest stacks, but managed a nice double up early with pocket aces. Unfortunately for Marcus, he won't be going home as the 2011APPT Melbourne Main Event champion.

Action folded to Marcus in the cutoff, he had around 550,000 and opened to 85,000. Phillip Willcocks made the call from the small blind and so too did Marcus' uncle, Steve Bouya, from the big blind.

Flop: {q-Hearts}{k-Hearts}{5-Hearts}

The action was checked to Marcus and he moved all in for his 479,000-chip stack. Willcocks made the call and Bouya got out of the way.

Marcus: {k-Clubs}{j-Diamonds}
Willcocks: {a-Diamonds}{a-Hearts}

The same hand that started Marcus' day so well, was set to end his tournament life and when the {3-Hearts} came on the turn it was all over for Marcus, with the flush for Willcocks too strong.

Marcus goes home with A$73,300 for his fifth-place finish, while, for the first time in this tournemant, a player has cracked the three-million mark.

A Couple For Jones

Level 24 : 20,000/40,000, 4,000 ante

William Jones opened to 85,000 from the cutoff and Leo Boxell made the call from the big blind.

The players checked as the flop fell {4-Spades}{j-Hearts}{a-Hearts}, with the {6-Spades} bringing about a check-call from Boxell.

The river was the {10-Diamonds} and Boxell again checked, with Jones this time betting 240,000. Boxell decided to send his cards into muck.

The very next hand Jones opened the pot and picked up the blinds and antes as all his opponents sent their cards into the muck.

Marcus Moving South

Phillip Willcocks opened the pot with a min-raise and Van Marcus would put in the extra 30,000 from the big blind.

The flop fell {q-Diamonds}{2-Hearts}{q-Spades} and Marcus checked to Willcocks who bet out 50,000. Marcus made the call and both players checked when the {7-Hearts} landed on the turn. The river was the {10-Hearts} and this time Marcus would take the lead, firing out 75,000. Willcocks then shoved his stack all-in, having Marcus covered by over 2-1.

Marcus layed down the hand and now sits as the short stack at the APPT Melbourne Main Event final table.

Two Pair Too Good

Phillip Willcocks opened to 60,000 from the button and Leo Boxell made the call from the big blind.

Boxell check-called a 75,000 chip bet from Willcocks on the {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds}{q-Hearts} flop. When the {j-Hearts} came on the turn, both players opted to check. The {7-Hearts} on the river would see Boxell lead for 100,000 and Willcocks make the call.

Willcocks: {k-Diamonds}{9-Clubs}
Boxell: {9-Hearts}{7-Clubs}

Boxell made two-pair on the river, but was already beat by the bigger flopped two-pair from Willcocks.
