Cheong's Sevens Beat Swannack's Deuces

From under the gun, Kenny Nielsen raised to 40,000. Chong Cheong flatted on the button and Cole Swannack called from the small blind.

The flop came down {J-Clubs}{9-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and everyone checked. The turn added the {5-Hearts} to the board and action checked to Cheong. He fired 50,000 and only Swannack called. The river completed the board with the {A-Diamonds}. Both remaining players quickly checked. Cheong held the winner with the {7-Hearts}{7-Clubs} to beat Swannack's {2-Clubs}{2-Hearts} and scooped in the pot.

Albert Kim Eliminated in 8th Place (350,100 HKD)

Albert Kim - 8th Place
Albert Kim - 8th Place

Albert Kim's rail was shouting at him after the last hand, "That's it. Just keep raise-folding. No problem. Just stick around. You've got to last at least an hour so we don't have to bounce yet." But clearly Kim didn't listen.

Chong Cheong limped under the gun, and when it folded around to him in the big blind, Kim moved all in for another 234,000. Cheong decided to pay for a shot to knock out Kim. It was off to the races with Kim's {a-Clubs}{9-Clubs} against Cheong's {8-Clubs}{8-Hearts}. The {5-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} flop had Kim's friends calling for running diamonds to chop the pot. They booed when the {10-Hearts} didn't meet their request, and the {j-Hearts} on the river sealed Kim's fate. With his exit, the only player left representing the United States is Victorino Torres, who is from the Northern Mariana Islands, a U.S. territory.

Kim Sliding

Albert Kim was under the gun to begin this hand and started off this action with a raise to 40,000. Victorino Torres was on the button and made the call. Everyone else folded.

The flop came down {9-Diamonds}{5-Clubs}{3-Spades} and Kim continued his aggression with a bet of 40,000. Torres wasted little time in raising, making it 140,000 to go. Kim insta-mucked and dropped even further to under 300,000 now.

Squeeze Fails for Kim

From middle position, Kai Paulsen raised to 36,000. Jeppe Drivsholm flat-called from the hijack seat and then Albert Kim three-bet from the cutoff to 116,000. If you remember from our coverage yesterday, we mentioned that Kim had been squeezing a lot yesterday in spots where there was a raise and a call in front of him. He did so rather uncontested and picked up a lot of chips that way.

This time, Paulsen folded and then Drivsholm fired right back at Kim and moved all in. He had Kim more than covered for Kim's last 380,000 or so. Eventually, Kim mucked his hand and failed to squeeze out some extra chips.

Torres Gets Paid Off by Drivsholm

Victorino Torres raised to 40,000 and the chip leader Jeppe Drivsholm made the call. The players saw the flop come down {10-Clubs}{10-Diamonds}{2-Diamonds} and Torres checked. Drivsholm checked behind.

The turn brought the {3-Clubs}. Torress fired 40,000 and Drivsholm made the call. The river completed the board with the {8-Clubs} and Torres fired 100,000. Drivsholm made the call, but mucked when Torres tabled the {A-Clubs}{10-Spades} for trip tens.

Kim Kounterfeits Drivsholm

Jeppe Drivsholm completed the small blind, and Albert Kim added another 40,000 to his bg blind. Drivsholm called to see the {8-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}{2-Clubs} flop. Drivsholm checked, Kim bet 50,000, and Drivsholm called. The turn was the {8-Spades}, and both checked. Same quick checks after the {4-Hearts} put two pair on the board. Drivsholm showed that he'd flopped bottom pair with {k-Spades}{2-Spades} but had been counterfeited on the river. That meant Kim's {a-Diamonds}{9-Diamonds} was good for the pot.
