Dbinder Singh Eliminated in 7th Place ($52,033)

Dbinder Singh - 7th Place
Dbinder Singh - 7th Place
Win your flips and you'll go far in tournament poker. Dbindger Singh couldn't win his flip and as a result he's out of the tournament. Dermot Blain opened the pot to 65,000. Action passed to Dbinder Singh, who made a small re-raise to 125,000. Blain's response was to move all in. Singh called all in for less.

Blain: {A-Spades} {k-Clubs}
Singh: {Q-Diamonds} {Q-Hearts}

The dreaded flip. Singh had the better hand to start with, but fell behind Blain after a flop of {4-Spades} {A-Clubs} {J-Diamonds}, with Blain making a pair of aces. After seing the flop, Singh stood up, grabbed his sunglasses, put his jacked on and shook his head. For television taping purposes he was forced to wait an agonizingly long time for the turn card, which was an unhelpful {7-Clubs}. Singh needed a river queen to stay alive but didn't get it. The river fell a repeater {7-Spades} to bounce Singh from the tournament in 7th place.

Kim Dodges Bullets

Darkhan Botabayev
Darkhan Botabayev
Mike Kim raised to 63,000 from the cutoff and play folded to Darkhan Botabayev in the big blind who cut out a raise, making it 175,000 more to go. Kim thought for just a moment before realising his {A-?}{J-?} was beat. Indeed it was as Botabayev once again revealed the rockets - {A-Diamonds}{A-Hearts}!

Botabayev is now up over 2.1 million in chips!

Bobo in the Tank Again

Daoxing Chen
Daoxing Chen
Unlike yesterday, for the most part the players today has been spared too many theatrics from Daoxing Chen. It seems that when Chen is faced with a bet that is larger than a standard raise, he goes into the tank. Thus you can imagine what happened when Jicheng Su open-raised all in for 391,000 and action passed to Chen.

We timed Chen at two-and-a-half minutes in the tank before he folded what he later said was ace-ten. When all other players folded, Su showed {A-Spades} {J-Hearts}, much to Chen's delight.

Blain Defends

Jicheng Su raised to 60,000 from the button and Dermot Blain made the call in the big blind.

We saw a rare flop of {J-Clubs}{4-Clubs}{2-Diamonds} and Blain checked to Su who fired a continuation bet of 76,000. Blain made the call.

The turn was the {8-Diamonds} and both players checked to see the free {6-Hearts} card on the river. Again both players checked.

Blain flipped {5-Clubs}{5-Hearts} for a pair of fives which was good as Su mucked his cards.

No-Flop Poker

The last ten minutes or so the players have been playing no-flop poker, with usually a single raise taking the blinds and antes. We did have one deviation from that course. Daoxing Chen limped into a pot, prompting button Dbinder Singh to raise to 65,000. That raise was called by big blind Jicheng Su before Chen announced a re-raise. Both players folded without waiting for the amount of the re-raise.

Ace From Space For Chen

Mike Kim raised to 62,000 and Daoxing Chen makde the call from the small blind. Dbinder Singh conisdered his options in the big blind and decided to come along for the ride.

The flop landed {6-Hearts}{8-Clubs}{K-Diamonds} and all players checked around to see the {10-Diamonds} hit the turn. Chen led out with a bet of 110,000 and Singh made the call as Kim got out of the way.

The river brought the {A-Diamonds} and Chen quickly checked to Singh who checked behind. Chen flipped {A-Spades}{j-Hearts} and waved his hands to tell the dealer to push the pot to him as Singh mucked his cards.

Brandon Demes Eliminated in 8th Place ($41,621)

Brandon Demes - 8th Place
Brandon Demes - 8th Place
It was quick preflop action that resulted in the elimination of Brandon Demes. Dermot Blain opened the pot to 55,000 from late position. Demes was in the small blind and re-raised all in for less than 500,000 total. Blain quickly called.

Blain: {K-Hearts} {K-Diamonds}
Demes: {A-Hearts} {9-Hearts}

Demes was looking for an ace or lots of red cards. Instead he got all black cards, {7-Spades} {5-Spades} {8-Clubs}. That gave him a few extra outs, but it wasn't to be. Demes didn't hit the turn, which came {Q-Diamonds}, or the river, which fell {4-Spades}. He was eliminated in 8th place, walking away with $41,621.
