A Miracle River... Or Not

Joe Hachem - Eliminated
Joe Hachem - Eliminated
From the button, Joe Hachem moved all in with a short stack. In the big blind, Paul Hocken looked down at {A-Hearts} {Q-Clubs} and made the call, having his opponent barely covered. Hachem tabled {K-Hearts} {10-Hearts} and was trailing in the hand for his tournament life.

Both players stood to await the outcome of this important pot. With all of Hachem's chips in the middle, he found some salvation on the flop as it came {7-Clubs} {J-Clubs} {K-Diamonds}. The pro picked up top pair and was in good shape to stay alive with two cards to come.

The turn, however, was the {A-Clubs}, vaulting Hocken back in the lead and putting Hachem one step away from the exit once again.

The river brought a big reaction from the table. The {K-Clubs} peeled off, and Hockin yelled, "No!" as Hachem clapped his hands together in celebration, having made trip kings. Wait a second though. The third king was a club, and it was quickly realized that Hockin had made the winning nut flush. The two players had turned their backs on the table, and now they spun back around to see that Hockin had indeed won.

"Thanks for the..." said Hachem, trailing off in disappointment. He wished his table luck and quickly made his way out of the tournament area.

It's left up to Tony now to bring home the win for the Hachem family.
