Day Kicks Off With Double Elimination

Level 17 : 3,000/6,000, 1,000 ante

There’s nothing like a double knock-out to kick a day into action

Especially if you are Jazz Mathers.

It started with Michael Frydman opened it up to 13,000 from early position. Phillip Dong three-bet all in for 42,000 from the hijack, Muhammad Khan called from the cut off and Jazz Mathers called from the button. Back on Frydman and he tank-called.

Dong was at risk and looking to quadruple up and then some.

The {6-Clubs}{5-Spades}{8-Diamonds} flop would see Frydman check, Khan bet 35,000 and both Mathers and Frydman called. All three players checked the {8-Hearts} turn and a {7-Spades} was dealt on the river. This time when it was checked to Mathers, he would bet 275,000. Frydman moved all in for less, Khan got out of the way and two players were at risk.

Mathers immediately tabled his {7-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} for a rivered full house.

Dong got out of his seat, showing his {a-Clubs}{a-Hearts} as he did so.

Frydman also got out of his seat, opting to muck his cards, but he said he had pocket nines for a straight.

Dong was officially sent home in 37th place, while Frydman took 36th.

Mathers is moving up toward 1 million in chips.
