Laidlaw Increases his Lead, Narbey Now Super Short

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We didn't catch the action of a recent hand, but we do know that the result was that Laidlaw has increased his chip lead, while Jon Pierre Narbey is now even shorter than he was before. Basically, Laidlaw and Narbey went to showdown on a {a-Spades}{j-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{9-Hearts}{j-Clubs} board. There was quite a lot in the pot and Laidlaw won with his {a-Clubs}{4-Hearts}, while Narbey flashed a {j-} before throwing it in the muck.

Laidlaw now has almost half the chips in play.

Laidlaw the New Leader

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Laidlaw is now the chip leader after he was won a handy pot off of former leader Jonathan Bredin.

The hand began with Laidlaw opening with a raise from under the gun. Bredin called out of the small blind and the dealer flipped over a {q-Diamonds}{6-Hearts}{a-Hearts} flop. Bredin led for 52,000 and Laidlaw called. The turn was a {a-Clubs} and Bredin led for 85,000. Laidlaw called and a {k-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

This time Bredin opted to check, at which point Laidlaw led for 120,000. Bredin eventually made the call and Laidlaw tabled {a-Diamonds}{j-Hearts} - the trip aces was enough to sent Bredin's {k-Spades}{9-Diamonds} into the muck.

Laidlaw Snags a Double

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

Daniel Laidlaw was under the gun when he opened it up to 24,000. Folded around to Jonathan Bredin and he would move all in for his monster stack. Laidlaw thought for a few a short while and eventually called off his 260,000-chip stack.

It was Laidlaw's {7-Hearts}{7-Spades} against Bredin's {4-Hearts}{4-Diamonds}.

Laidlaw was way in front and looked like a lock to double up following a {6-Spades}{k-Spades}{7-Diamonds} flop being dealt on the felt. The {10-Clubs} turn meant that Bredin was drawing dead and a {7-Clubs} river meant that Laidlaw had quads.

Bredin is still the chip leader, but Laidlaw is starting to close in.

This Has Literally Never Happened Before... Ever

Level 20 : 6,000/12,000, 2,000 ante

We have just watched a 17-minute hand play out. Not only that, but time was called four times by the other players at the table. Amazingly, time had to be called three times… On one street. We have literally never seen anything like it and most likely never will again.

The hand began with 50 minutes remaining in the level with Chiu Yeung Lee opening to 24,000 from under the gun. Jon Pierre Narbey called out of the big blind, and the dealer spread out the {8-Diamonds}{10-Clubs}{9-Hearts} flop. Narbey bet 45,000 relatively quickly on the flop and this is when the tanking first began. Lee went deep into the tank, taking three or four minutes before Raj Ramarishnan called time on Lee. Lee eventually made the call.

The {7-Spades} turn would see Narbey take a long time before betting 45,000. Lee then went into the tank as the rest of the players at the table seemed to be getting annoyed. Eventually, Lee called and the {a-Diamonds} completed the board on the river.

Narbey then went into the tank, taking two or three minutes before Jonathan Bredin called the clock. After using up almost the full minute, Narbey checked. Lee, who just had several minutes to think about what he was going to do while Narbey tanked, then went into the tank. After a couple of minutes, Ramakrishnan had to call the clock. Lee eventually moved all in for 102,000.

Then… Narbey went back into the tank.

The rest of the table now began to get really annoyed.

Narbey asked the dealer to spread the pot. After another couple of minutes, Bredin had no choice but to call the clock yet again.

That made for three clock calls on one street.

In the end, Narbey ended up folding, sending the pot to Lee.

The floor staff then told Narbey and Lee that what they just did was ridiculous and they needed to play faster. If the clock is called on either of these two players again, they will now only receive 30 seconds instead of a full minute.
