Parvin Only Has a Pair

Miroslav Sheynin opened the pot with a bet of 32,000 and was called by Pravin Harji in the blinds. The flop came {A-Diamonds}{j-Diamonds}{J-Hearts} and Harji checked-called a bet of 25,000 in chips. Both players checked the {3-Hearts} on the turn, as the {8-Spades} fell to complete the board. Harji then cut out some chips, and threw in 52,000. Sheynin snap-called, bringing an instant muck from Harji.

Sheynin was forced to show his cards, as he tabled the {8-Hearts}{10-Hearts}.

"Slava shows the flush," announced the tournament director. A roar of laughter came from the rail, as he was told that it was actually a pair that won the hand.

The tournament director could only laugh back, after realising his mistake.

Smith Doubles

We ran back to the table to see Geoff Smith commit his last 164,000 in chips into the middle, and get called by Miroslav Sheynin.

Smith: {Q-Diamonds}{J-Diamonds}
Sheynin: {A-Diamonds}{K-Hearts}

The board ran out {10-Clubs}{2-Clubs}{Q-Spades}{4-Spades}{9-Spades}, as Smith flopped top-pair to take the lead and hold to the river. With that hand, he moves up in the counts, as Sheynin becomes the short-stack.
