After almost eight hours of play, "DeuceofDuc0" has won WPT DS #9 - $100,000 Marathon for $23,250. They made their way through the field of 134 unique players who combined for 46 rebuys. That put 180 entries into the pot, but that wasn't quite enough to hit the $100,000 guarantee.

The Day's Action

After the four hours of late registration was up, 134 players with 46 rebuys made for 180 entries in the prize pool. That wasn't enough to hit the guarantee, so there was $100,000 for the top 24 players to divvy up.

Less than two hours after registration closed, they were in the money after "IlovePickles" finally lost their tiny stack on the bubble. They'd survived for several orbits on fumes as the bottom stack, including waking up with jacks when forced all-in in the big blind. The luck didn't last though, and they burst the money bubble a few hands later.

888poker ambassador Sofia "sofialovgren" Lovgren couldn't repeat her final table performance from event #5, busting a few spots from the money. Fellow ambassador Chris "888Moorman" Moorman did a little better, sliding into the money for a minimum cash.

It was called the Marathon, but the money round was more of a sprint than a distance run. Within an hour, they were down to the final table. Martin "MJacobson888" Jacobson was among the players to fall on the way to the final nine.

They kept sprinting in the final nine, and it was six-handed within the first few minutes of the table being set. That's when they slowed back down to a Marathon pace, playing nearly an hour before "Brownerrrrr" ended their day in 6th. Maksim "MAMOHT_T" Viktorovich and Felipe "mr.salgado" Salgado followed quickly to set up three-handed play.

Three-handed went on for a while before "RuskiBotski", who had been second in chips through most of the final table to "DeuceofDuc0", got ace-jack in against the ace-queen of the big stack and couldn't find enough help to survive. That set up a quick heads up that lasted just a few hands before "JPiernik" shoved an ace but ran into jacks for second place.

It came down to a cooler when it all went in before the flop between "RuskiBotski" and "DeuceofDuc0". DeuceofDuc0 had the better ace and rivered the flush as "RuskiBotski" hit two pair.

They check-called again on the {7-Hearts} turn for 274,203, and they both checked the {9-Spades} river. "JPiernik" showed {k-Clubs}{6-Hearts} and "DeuceofDuc0" mucked.
