WPTDS #28 - $1,000,000 Main Event
Day 3 Completed
Gerard "Panxetillo" Carbo navigated through a field of 1,024 entries to win the $1,050 WPTDeepStacks London Online Main Event for $184,320 at 888poker.
This was easily the largest cash for Carbo at 888poker. The Andorran-based player was able to seal the deal after besting Jesse "jessecesar" Cesar Fonseca in just one hand of heads-up play. This was nearly the second title for Carbo as he nearly found the winner's circle in the $320 WPT DeepStacks #13 - $100,000 6-Max before settling for the $16,550 runner-up prize.
The event itself was a huge success with the prize pool ballooning to $1,024,000 to eclipse the event's $1,000,000 guarantee. The final table was broadcast on a 30-minute delay with hosts Nick Wealthall and David Tuchman. The duo was first joined by WPT commentator Vince Van Patten before WPT Executive Tour Director Matt Savage took over for Van Patten.

Dalton "daltonhb" Hobold began the final table with the chip lead. Carbo entered in third place and quickly snagged the chip lead before three short-stacked players in Jerry "Perrymejsen" Odeen (seventh - $31,130), "brudii030" (eighth - $20,992), and "ShinyMew2" (ninth - $12,800) ended their Main Event runs.
Rodrigo "Seijistar" Seiji temporarily snagged the chip lead after picking off a bluff by Hobold before Carbo eliminated "BetBetFck" (sixth - $41,370) when their jack-nine got there against ace-jack.
Carbo took down a few pots before the break to take the chip lead and never looked back as he watched his four Brazilian opponents hit the rail one-by-one.
Carbo's opponents were all short-stacked before Jesse "jessecesar" Cesar Fonseca began to pick up some steam by eliminating both Rodrigo "selouan1991" Selouan (fourth - $74,240) and Dalton "daltonhb" Hobold (fifth - $51,610).
Seiji was then ousted by Carbo when his queen-trey suited didn't improve against his opponents tens and Carbo entered heads-up play with nearly double the stack of Cesar Fonseca.
Despite both players having some chips, heads-up play lasted just one hand. Carbo min-raised the button with ace-jack and was called by Cesar Fonseca with five-four. Carbo flopped top pair on the ace-four-trey flop while Cesar Fonseca held middle pair and a gutshot straight draw. Cesar Fonseca called a small bet before called a bigger one after a ten hit the turn. A second ace paired the board on the river and Cesar Fonseca called off a pot-sized jam for the rest of his chips to exit the tournament in second place for $133,120.
Meanwhile, a huge congrats to Gerard "Panxetillo" Carbo for winning the $184,320 top prize and becoming the latest big winner at 888poker.
