KostenBerguz Eliminated in 5th Place ($20,732)

KostenBerguz is the fifth-place finisher
KostenBerguz is the fifth-place finisher

"KostenBerguz" was using their big stack aggressively but that aggression ultimately led to their downfall. They lost several all-ins to shorter stacks before getting the last of their chips in with {q-Diamonds}{10-Clubs} and getting a call from "Why_a_King" in the big blind holding {8-Diamonds}{7-Diamonds}.

"Why_a_king" turned trips on the {6-Clubs}{2-Spades}{8-Spades}{8-Hearts}{3-Diamonds} run-out, and "KostenBerguz" busted in fifth-place for a $20,732 score.

The final table has lost another player in the shape of "makichinko," who called an all-in shove from "KostenBerguz" with {a-Diamonds}{3-Diamonds} and found themselves ahead of their opponent's {10-Clubs}{8-Clubs}.

"makichinko" only stayed ahead until the {8-Diamonds}{k-Clubs}{8-Hearts} flop. The {10-Hearts} turn and {j-Hearts} river completed the board, and confirmed "makichinko's" demise.

youler Left On Fumes

"youler" open shoved for 7.8 big blinds with {a-Hearts}{9-Hearts} from the small blind, and "makichinho" called for less from the big blind with {a-Spades}{j-Clubs}.

The five community cards fell {8-Clubs}{j-Spades}{7-Clubs}{2-Hearts}{7-Diamonds} and "youler" was left with less than half a big blind.

Cooler Averted

Level 39: Blinds 70,000/140,000/17,500a

"Why_a_King" and "iNFOsHOVE" got their 20 big blind stacks into the middle of the felt, but both players held ace-king. "iNFOsHOVE" held {a-Spades}{k-Spades} and they flopped two spades, but a third did not appear on the turn or river, averting a cooler for "Why_a_King."

Hello and welcome to PokerNews' coverage of the $250 buy-in Main Event of the 888poker XL Spring Series. Only nine of the 2,173 entrants remain in contention to become the Main Event's champion and it is "Instinctym" who leads those finalists back into battle.

The final table action commences at 8:00 p.m. BST on June 7. However, the popular 888poker Twitch channel is streaming the final table, complete with exposed hole cards, which means the stream is on a one-hour delay. As to avoid spoilers, PokerNews' updates will follow the stream.

Our finalists come back to Level 39 where the blinds are 70,000/140,000 with a running ante of 17,500; those blinds increase every 12 minutes. The average stack is 2,197,778, or 15.7 big blinds, so expect the action to be fast and furious from the very first hand, especially as five of the finalists have sub-15 big blind stacks.
