Thomas Gardiner raised to 7,500 on the button and Paul McTaggart, who had just entered for the third time today, moved all in from the big blind for 30,000. Gardiner called to put him at risk.
Paul McTaggart: A♠5♠
Thomas Gardiner: 8♥7♣
The J♥6♥8♣ flop gave Gardiner the lead with a pair of eights, while the 8♦ turn improved him to trips and left McTaggart drawing dead. The river was the 2♣ and McTaggart busted once again.
In a blind versus blind battle, Stephen Barnes and Paul McTaggart went to the turn on a board of 10♦8♣3♠7♣. Barnes then moved all in and McTaggart, with around 30,000 remaining, tanked for a few minutes before calling.
McTaggart showed K♣8♦ for a pair of eights, but Barnes had 10♠3♦ for two pair. The river was the 5♦ and Barnes secured the pot to send McTaggart to the rail.
A few hands after busting Robbie Bull, Vivian Saliba raised to 5,500 in middle position and Daniel Johnson three-bet to 16,500 in the hijack. Saliba then moved all in and Johnson snap-called for 87,000.
Daniel Johnson: K♠K♣
Vivian Saliba: 10♣10♦
Johnson had woken up with kings and was a big favorite to double up as the 7♣A♣4♦6♥8♥ board provided no help to Saliba, forcing her to hand over the big pot.
Stephen Barnes raised to 5,000 in early position and Robbie Bull moved all in for 22,000 in the cutoff. Vivian Saliba called on the button, while Barnes got out of the way.
Robbie Bull: A♠K♥
Vivian Saliba: J♠J♣
Bull was racing for his tournament life but fell far behind on the J♥6♥9♣ flop as Saliba spiked a set. The 6♦ turn left Bull drawing dead, while the 5♣ river was a mere formality as Bull was sent to the rail.
At another table, Daniel Gormley was recently eliminated when his A♥5♥ couldn't catch up against Joe Dixon's pocket sevens.
Zahir Aslam raised to 5,500 in middle position and Paul McSherry moved all in from the button. The table folded back to Aslam who called for his last 20,000.
Zahir Aslam: 10♦9♦
Paul McSherry: A♦7♣
The flop came 5♦2♦3♥ to give Aslam additional outs with a flush draw, but he missed the K♠ turn and A♥ river as McSherry made top pair to send him to the rail.
At the same table, Dean Lyall has built his stack up to around 250,000 and in contention for the chip lead.
While this hand was taking place, Paul McTaggart had moved all in for 30,000 on another table and was up against Robbie Bull.
Paul McTaggart: A♦K♠
Robbie Bull: 10♠9♠
McTaggart hit top pair on the K♣5♠3♦ flop, while Bull picked up a straight draw on the J♣ turn. The 4♦ river was safe for McTaggart and he earned the double up.
