Manchester is a city known as the heart of Britain’s Industrial Revolution, its vibrant cultural scene, and the passionate rivalry between the two top soccer clubs. For the next five days, it will also play host to some of the biggest names in the British poker scene with the start of the 888poker Live Manchester Main Event.

The £1,100 Main Event kicks off with Day 1a at noon local time inside the Grosvenor Casino. Players begin with a 30,000 starting stack and will play 14 40-minute levels on each of the first three starting flights. There is also a turbo Day 1d flight on August 23 at 8 p.m. with 20-minute levels. All surviving players combine for Day 2 on August 24, with a champion being crowned on August 25.

In addition to British poker superstars, the 888poker team will be out in full force this week. Ian Simpson, Nick Eastwood, Lucia Navarro, and Vivian Saliba are all expected to make an appearance in Manchester and take a run at the trophy.

This is the fourth 888poker Live Main Event held so far in 2024. Previous champions include Josep Valls, Razvan Morar, and Manuel Ledesma. The last time 888poker came to British soil was in Coventry last October, when Yiannis Liperis prevailed over a field of 672 entries to earn £120,000.

PokerNews will be following all the action throughout the tournament, so stay tuned for all the live updates here in Manchester.
