Cordobes Runs into Jacks as Mantovani Also Busts

Level 25 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante
Alexandre Mantovani
Alexandre Mantovani

Jose Cordobes held {9-Diamonds}{9-Hearts} but had run into the {j-Spades}{j-Hearts} of Victor Caballero.

The board was {q-Hearts}{6-Hearts}{5-Hearts}{10-Diamonds}{4-Clubs} and Cordobes was eliminated.

Meanwhile, 888poker Ambassador Alexandre Mantovani had been short for a while and got his remaining chips in from the hijack and got two calls.

After Tom Orpaz forced out the other player on the {3-Clubs}{3-Spades}{j-Hearts} flop, the cards were turned over.

Alexandre Mantovani: {a-Clubs}{10-Hearts}
Tom Orpaz: {k-Hearts}{8-Spades}

The turn {10-Clubs} gave Mantovani a pair, but the river was the {k-Diamonds} giving Orpaz top pair and eliminating the Brazilian opponent.

"I don't understand how I got this deep in the tournament," he said after the hand. "My best hand was queen-jack for the first three hours. But we've still got two [888poker players] in, so we've got a sweat."

Orpaz Flops Suciu Dead in Monster Pot

Level 25 : Blinds 40,000/80,000, 80,000 ante

There was 600,000 in the middle of a hand between Tom Orpaz and Nicolae Suciu. The flop was {a-Hearts}{a-Diamonds}{5-Clubs} and the turn had brought the {8-Diamonds}. Orpaz checked and Suciu bet 360,000. Orpaz then check-raised to 1,000,000 and Suciu called.

The river was the {3-Diamonds} and Orpaz bet 1,500,000. Suciu, who started the day as the chip leader, thought before announcing all in. Orpaz snap-called tabling {a-Clubs}{5-Hearts} having flopped a full house.

Suciu had been drawing dead, but he showed {k-Diamonds}{4-Diamonds} for the nut flush as Orpaz doubled for his remaining 2,780,000.
