Alshanti Dodges the River For Massive Double

A pot of more than 25,000 was already brewing as Abdullah Alshanti and an opponent in the hijack went heads-up to the turn on a board of Q♠6♠J♣8♥.

The cutoff then bet 22,000 and Alshanti tanked for a minute before moving all in for 52,000. His opponent then tanked for several minutes until he called to put Alshanti at risk.

Alshanti had A♥Q♥, while his opponent had a straight draw holding K♣10♠. Alshanti got up from his seat to await the river, which came the 6♦ as he slapped his hands together to celebrate his double up.

"What a player," another tablemate said as Alshanti earned a double up to move up to around 140,000.
