Dominik Nitsche Analyzes Heads-Up River Value Bet From WSOPE One Drop
888Poker Ambassador Dominik Nitsche is on a nice roll of late, especially in the Czech Republic where over recent months he's made multiple final tables and earned a couple of titles.
Highlighting the run was Nitsche's victory last November in the €111,111 buy-in 2018 World Series of Poker Europe High Roller for One Drop in Rozvadov. Nitsche topped a 132-entry field to win €3,487,463 and his fourth career WSOP bracelet.
During heads-up play, Nitsche had a tough opponent in fellow German Andreas Eiler. Eiler was ahead to begin their duel, but Nitsche grabbed the advantage early on and after about two dozen hands had opened up a chip lead on Eiler.
That's when the following hand took place, an interesting one that saw Nitsche win a nice-sized pot, made even bigger after a creative thin river value bet earned a call. Take a look:
To recap the action, Eiler min-raised the button with Q♦2♦ and Nitsche called with 8♠7♦. The 2♥8♣5♦ flop gave both players a pair, and Nitsche check-called a continuation bet of 4.5 million from Eiler.
Then after the 5♣ turn, Nitsche led for 10.5M and Eiler called, making the pot 34 million. The K♦ came on the river and Nitsche bet small — just 6M — and after Eiler called once more, Nitsche won the pot.
