Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky on Working and Winning in Online Poker
The World Series of Poker not only attracts players from all over the world, but also tends to draw some top pros who don't typically show up at other live series during the rest of the year.
Case in point, one of the world's top online players Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky made it to the Rio All-Suite Hotel and Casino this year to play some of the bigger buy-in events.
Sulsky has earned some impressive WSOP finishes in the past, including three fourth-place finishes in three different prestigious events — the $10,000 Heads-Up Championship (in 2013), the $50,000 Poker Players Championship (in 2015) and the $111,111 High Roller for One Drop (also in 2015).
Of course, it is online where Sulsky has earned a reputation as one of the most dominant players over recent years. He's earned a lot of cash, too, including over $1 million during his very first year to play online poker and according to HighStakesDB.com was nearing the $5 million mark in online profit last summer.
During a break at the WSOP, our Sarah Herring seized the opportunity to talk with Sulsky about how he has managed to stay on top of the highly competitive online poker world. After all, not only do the world's best players play online, but as Sulsky points out, so, too, do many of the world's best live players frequently dip into the games to make them even more challenging.
"Online has kind of been like the training ground for pros who are playing throughout the world and they just sort of come online to play with the online grinders and test their chops," says Sulsky.
Sulsky touches on several topics here, including his enjoyment of the game — and, importantly, his willingness to put in the work needed to remain a winning player — as well as how he manages to remain fit and healthy while logging many hours at the computer.
