Anton Bergstrom is a Swedish poker player who specializes in multi-table tournaments. During his deep run in the 2024 edition of the PokerStars European Poker Tour (EPT) Prague festival, Bergstrom revealed he is the player behind the online alias "WhatIfGod", one of the most feared and respected online poker grinders in the world.
Bergstrom has won countless titles in the online poker realm, particularly at PokerStars. In 2020, when the EPT moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bergstrom won the $5,200 No-Limit Hold'em Main Event, defeating Timothy Adams heads-up and capturing a $1,019,082 top prize.
A year later, Bergstrom went back-to-back, taking down another $5,200 EPT Online Main Event for an additional $363,641.
Swedish taxation laws make playing in live events a potentially costly endeavor for Swedes, meaning Bergstrom does not play as many live events as you would think. Bergstrom has over $500,000 in live tournament earnings despite a lack of volume.
In 2005, Bergstrom recorded his first live score, a €65,000 haul for finishing sixth in the EPT Barcelona Main Event. He also won another five-figure prize in December 2018, when he finished second in the €2,150 NLHE Hyper Turbo at EPT Prague for €31,860.
Bergstrom reached the final three tables of the 2023 EPT Prague Main Event, bowing out in 24th place for €27,800. At the 2024 EPT Prague Main Event, the Swede finished fifth for a career-best €303,000. During the pre-final table interviews, Bergstrom admitted he is "WhatIfGod" in online poker circles.
