Biography

Maurice Hawkins is an American professional poker player with over $6.2 million in live tournament cashes and 18 World Series of Poker Circuit rings. He won his most recent WSOPC ring in the 2025 WSOPC Maryland Main Event which he won for $140,752.

Along with Ari Engel, Hawkins sits atop the all-time WSOP Circuit ring list. His 18th ring was marred by controversy as it was revealed the third-place finisher incorrectly busted with the best hand.

Hawkins’ other big tournament successes include: 4th in the 2015 WPT Borgata Poker Open ($220,258), 6th in the 2017 WSOP $1,500 Monster Stack ($213,591), and 9th in the 2014 WSOP Millionaire Maker ($128,150).

He was also the chip leader going into Day 3 of the 2023 WSOP Main Event, ultimately finishing 35th for $280,100.

Hawkins has been the subject of several controversies. Most of these have involved Randy Garcia who sued Hawkins in 2019 for failure to pay out Garcia’s share in a staking agreement. The court awarded Garcia $115,828 in damages.

However, in 2022, Garcia alleged that Hawkins still hadn’t paid the full amount.
