Online Poker World Champion
The highlight of Luís Faria's career came in 2022. The Portuguese professional won the $10,300 NLHE Main Event [World Championship of NLHE] at the WCOOP festival on PokerStars and became world champion of online poker using the "luis_faria" account.
For the achievement, Faria received the champion's trophy and an incredible $1,293,826 to completely smash his previous career record, the $232,764 he earned when he won the Main Event of the Online Super Series (OSS) on the WPN Network.
This is the second biggest Portuguese prize ever in online poker, just behind the $2,329,943 won by Manuel Ruivo when he won the partypoker Millions Online in 2018.
By winning the online poker world title, Luís Faria repeated the feat of compatriot André Marques, champion of the 2020 edition, and now Portugal has two names in the gallery of champions of the Main Event of the World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP).
Other achievements in online poker
The WCOOP Main Event title was the second of Luís Faria's career at the prestigious PokerStars tournament festival. In the same edition of the series, the Portuguese player won WCOOP 33-H: $530 NLHE [PKO, Freezeout, Sunday Warm-Up] for $83,854.
Also in 2022, the Coimbra native won his first Spring Championship of Online Poker (SCOOP) title, another of the world's biggest online poker series, also held on PokerStars. Faria won the SCOOP 31-M: $215 NLHE [8-Max, Freezeout] and pocketed $37,146.
But it's not just on PokerStars that the Portuguese grinder makes a living. Faria regularly plays at all of the top online poker sites and has won huge scores at most of them.
At the GGPoker tables, where he goes by the nickname "THEfaryboy", the Portuguese pro won the $108 NLHE Global MILLION$ for $123,584 and was champion of the $1,050 NLHE GGMasters High Rollers for $144,778.
Luís Faria's list of six-figure online poker titles also includes victory in the $215 NLHE partypoker MILLION for $140,000 and top spot on the podium in the $630 NLHE Main Event of the Americas Cardroom OSS (ACR) for $232,764 .
According to the PocketFives website, the largest database of online poker tournaments, Luís Faria has won more than $7.3 million in prizes at the virtual tables.

Live poker achievements
Despite dedicating much of his time to online poker, in recent years Luís Faria has also been traveling to play in some of the biggest live poker tournaments in the world, including the World Series of Poker (WSOP) and the European Poker Tour (EPT).
And it was on one of his regular trips to Las Vegas, in 2022, that he achieved his biggest live result. The Portuguese pro finished second in the $1,600 NLHE DeepStack Championship of the Venetian DeepStack Series, one of the biggest parallel series held during the WSOP, and cashed in $213,561.

The other six-figure live prize on his resume was won in 2019, when he was the best Portuguese in the inaugural edition of the $25,000 NLHE PokerStars Players Championship (PSPC), a tournament held in the Bahamas and part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA) calendar. The Portuguese finished in 18th place, among 1,039 participants, and received $175,300.
WSOP Circuit Ring Owner
Luís Faria has four live poker titles, three of which he won in Portugal, all at Casino Estoril. One of those wins earned him one of poker's top trophies, the WSOP Circuit Champion Ring.
In 2017, the prestigious international circuit had a stage in Portugal, and the Portuguese pro was the best among the 268 participants of Event #1: €300 No Limit Hold'em - Six Max. The feat earned him the WSOPC ring and €17,983 in prize money.
Also at Casino Estoril, in 2016, the Portuguese was the great champion of the €550 NLHE Main Event of the Circuito Nacional de Poker (CNP) International and took home the trophy and a prize of €23,468.
With more than $800,000 in live poker prizes, according to The Hendon Mob , Luís Faria occupies the 13th position on the All Time Money List Portugal, the list of Portuguese players with the most earnings in live poker tournaments . João Vieira leads the list.
