Biography

Brad Daugherty is an American poker player who won the 1991 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event.

He is the co-author of 'Championship Satellite Strategy' with fellow WSOP Main Event champion Tom McEvoy

Daugherty famously put his 1991 Main Event bracelet up for sale on eBay in 2010 and 2011 in order to raise money for charity. Both times it failed to sell due to it not meeting its reserve.

Biography

Daugherty was born in Mountain Grove, Missouri on July 5, 1961. He began playing poker with his family and was eventually inspired to take up poker after hearing about the success of Doyle Brunson.

"I respect a lot of old-timers who have played for many, many years," Daugherty is quoted as saying. "Like Doyle Brunson and Johnny Moss. Actually, I have admiration for all older players. I give them a good respect. These are the pioneers of poker. They have led the game to where it is now. They are the pioneers of poker."

He moved to Reno, Nevada in 1978 and worked part-time as a card room manager. He first cashed in the WSOP in 1988, finishing 11th in a $1,500 Seven Card Stud tournament. He made his first WSOP final table two years later, finishing third in a $1,500 Seven Card Stud Hi-Lo tournament for $27,150.

1991 WSOP Main Event

Daugherty entered the 1991 WSOP Main Event, which saw 215 players enter. This was the first year that the Main Event awarded $1,000,000 to first place. Daugherty defeated Don Holt heads-up to win the seven-figure prize.

Two years later in 1993, Daugherty would make it back to the WSOP Main Event final table. He finished ninth for $24,000.
