30Joe Cada joins the show.
42Joe can’t believe that it has been twelve years since his won the 2009 WSOP Main Event. “Time flies, it’s crazy.”
26Joe recalls entering the 2009 WSOP Main Event. “I started playing at such an early age and I was playing so much that I felt confident going in and, in my ability, but I also just knew how tournaments work and what my odds were. It wasn’t like I thought I was going to win the tournament, but I felt comfortable sitting at the table with everyone.”
51Joe describes what it was like after he won it. “It was pretty surreal. Especially like the way it went down. Me only having 2 or 3 big blinds at the final table, with like 7 people left.”
27Joe describes players recognizing him recently after his deep run again last year in the 2018 WSOP Main Event. “It’s definitely very welcoming sitting at the table and everyone saying ‘Congrats.' It feels good.”
42Joe discusses his potential poker legacy. “It’s nice to have. I really appreciate the bracelets in general and the money too and the success.”
33Joe recalls the 2009 WSOP Main Event, which included Phil Ivey and Darvin Moon, and how he felt entering the final table. “Everyone talks about the suckouts and the small pairs, but I thought those were fine honestly. I was just unlucky to run into big pairs in that situation. It’s like plays that I feel confident making every day.”
04Joe describes being short stacked down to a few big blinds at the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table. Joe also recalls how Steven Begleiter folded an ace on the button that would have eliminated Joe.
35Joe describes being comfortable playing the short stack at the 2009 WSOP Main Event final table.
13Joe talks about the 2009 WSOP Main Event, including one of his backers for the event Cliff Josephy, who also made the 2016 WSOP Main Event final table. “After Day 1, I ended with the chip lead and I was never all in (in the 2009 Main Event) until the final table.”
52Joe talks about changing his playing style after he won the 2009 WSOP Main Event. “It was hard adjusting right away in live poker after I won. I had to change my playing style because I couldn’t get away with anything.”
24Bernard and Joe discuss the heads-up play versus Darvin Moon including the first hand where Joe had pocket nines and Darvin had pocket queens. “It could have been a lot different…He was beating me pretty good for the first two hours. He was crushing me. I was getting outplayed.”
51Joe recalls his feelings right after he won. “The money really didn’t come into my mind at all. It was more of a sense of relief…Thankfully, I didn’t have to make any stressful decisions anymore.”

44Bernard continues his interview with Joe Cada.
08Joe reveals that he has spoken with Darvin a couple of times since his win.
31Joe discusses the effect of Black Friday on his career. “That really sucked! That was a big punch in the stomach from all worlds.”
41Joe said that he never thought about becoming a live pro and doesn’t have the pressure to make money. “I don’t have to really grind as much as I used to. I play when I want to.”
34Joe reveals his current schedule and that he doesn’t have to play all the time. “I go through spurts. I go through months where I’ll wake up and play all day and all night…sometimes I’ll go a month where I don’t play much at all…I play it by ear. I don’t force myself to play…It depends on my mindset and my mood.”
21Joe discusses working at his game. “I think I’m always trying to improve.”
15Joe discusses the major difference between tournaments and cash. “The biggest difference is stack depth as cash games you are playing pretty deep…Tournaments with antes, you can get away with more stealing. Cash games, you are playing tighter. Not as much pressure to steal pots.”
55Joe discusses finishing runner-up for a WSOP bracelet in 2012. “That’s why I go to the World Series (of Poker) to try and win bracelets. I wasn’t too bummed about it…I was happy when it was all over.”
57Joe discusses winning his second WSOP bracelet in 2014, $10,000 six-max championship. “I really wanted to have six-max title…I really wanted that…Now, I really want to win the $10K Heads-up (championship).”
04Bernard wraps up Part 1 of his interview with Joe and he will return next week to discuss his incredible run at the 2018 WSOP.
