2018 Goliath

Every poker player worth their salt dreams of jetting off to Las Vegas and playing in a massive World Series of Poker event before returning home with a suitcase stuffed with cash and a gold bracelet on their wrist.

Unfortunately, flying to Nevada is both expensive and time-consuming, plus there are few WSOP events that cost less than $1,500. While we at PokerNews would never suggest giving up on your dream of playing poker in Vegas, we will suggest that you consider playing in the 2018 Goliath tournament because it is the next best thing, if not even better.

For those of you who are not aware, the 2017 Goliath was record-breaking. It broke the record for the total number of unique entrants and the number of re-entries purchased for a live poker tournament held outside Las Vegas. It managed this because 4,022 unique players bought in for £120 and went on to buy 2,363 re-entries, taking the total attendance to an incredible 6,385.

The mathematicians among you will have probably worked out what this meant the 2017 Goliath’s prize pool weighed in at a mammoth £638,500 and that is nothing short of amazing for a tournament costing a mere £120 to buy into.

Everyone at the nine-handed final table walked away with at least £8,490 for their efforts, with Elliot Marais securing a massive £85,760 for his £120 investment.

2018 Goliath Champion to win £100,000

The 2018 Goliath champion will win even more money than Marais did last year because Grosvenor Casinos is guaranteeing a £100,000 cash haul for whoever is the last player standing.

It is not only the potentially huge cash prizes that make the 2018 Goliath unmissable, you also must experience the atmosphere at the casino.

You will be surrounded by thousands of like-minded people who are there to win money, obviously, but also to have a good time and enjoy the game of poker thanks to the buy-in being low enough to not damage your bank balance.

There’s also a case to be made for the trio of Grosvenor Poker pros who will be in attendance and willing to join in with the fun and frolics. The legendary Joe Beevers, former GUKPT Walsall champion Jeff Kimber and the trash-talking William “nine-high like a boss” Kassouf will all be heading to Coventry to battle it out for the title.
