The Big Race

Sunday is traditionally the biggest day for online poker players, particularly tournament players who flock to their computers in the hope of winning one of online poker’s so-called ‘Sunday Majors.’

This coming Sunday, Jun. 18, is going to be bigger than ever before at PokerStars thanks to a special crossover tournament taking place and the Half-Price Million event where dozens of tickets are set to be given away while players are grinding for a slice of a guaranteed $1 million.

Huge Crossover Tournament

PokerStars and BetStars have teamed up to provide players with the opportunity to combine poker and sports betting in The Big Race tournament.

The Big Race is a $2 buy-in ($1.82+$0.18) tournament where all entrants start with 3,000 chips and play to a turbocharged blind structure that increases every five minutes. While the prize pool does not feature a guaranteed amount, PokerStars and BetStars giving anyone who finishes in the money a free $5 BetStars bet, plus the top finishers in The Big Race will be randomly allocated a horse running in the Gold Cup on Jun. 22 and depending on where this horse finishes in the race, you could win a $2,000 PokerStars Festival package.

If your allocated horse finishes in fourth place, a free $25 BetStars bet is your reward. The third place horse wins a $50 BetStars bet. The Gold Cup’s runner-up receives a free $100 BetStars bet, while the eventual champion of Gold Cup walks away with a PokerStars Festival package to either Dublin, Lille or Bucharest.

The Big Race tournament has been created to help celebrate the start of the Ascot racing festival, which takes place Jun. 20-24 and a festival that BetStars offers dozens of betting markets on.

Half Price Sunday Million

Jun. 18 also sees the Sunday Million’s buy in cut in half from $215 to a more affordable $107.50 yet the guarantee remains $1 million with first place expected to be in the region of $150,000.

As if being able to play for a share of a guaranteed $1 million for only $107.50 wasn’t enough to have you clambering for your computer mouse, PokerStars is awarding all the players at the final table a Road to Barcelona satellite ticket worth €215. What’s more, throughout the Sunday Million, a random ticket drop worth more than €25,000 will occur and players will randomly Road to Barcelona tickets; the first ticket drop will take place 50-minutes after the Sunday Million begins.

Satellites to the half price Sunday Million are running in the PokerStars lobby now and start as low as $0.55. PokerStars has also created a $2.50 buy in Spin & Go tournament where Sunday Million tickets are awarded as prizes instead of cash.
