The action is heating up in the Garden State this month thanks to the first ever New Jersey Championship of Online Poker (NJCOOP) taking place online at PokerStars NJ and the launch of a brand new worldwide live poker festival taking place at Resorts Casino Hotel dubbed the PokerStars Festival.
Win a Share of at Least $1.2 Million in the NJCOOP
The NJCOOP is the largest online poker festival in New Jersey with the schedule featuring 43 action-packed tournaments with a combined $1.2 million in guaranteed prize pools from Oct. 15-31. The schedule features a wide variety of tournaments in different poker variants including no-limit hold'em, pot-limit Omaha, mixed-games and more with buy-ins ranging from $50 to $1,000.
The highlight of the poker festival is the two-day $500 NL Hold'em Main Event, which boasts a huge $200,000 guarantee on its own from Oct. 29-30. While the $500 buy-in may prove to be too much for your bankroll to easily handle, there are plenty of ways including satellites to get in cheaper or even for free.
One great way to get into the Main Event for just $2.50 is by playing special lottery-style Spin & Go's, where the top prize you could be playing for is a seat to the $500 buy-in event.
However, if even $2.50 is too much for you to spend, you can complete an easy daily challenge such as entering a tournament or playing one real-money hand in Zoom or on regular poker tables to receive a freeroll ticket which will be good for the following weeks freeroll where a seat to the Main Event is awarded for free. There are four freerolls, meaning you have four chances to grab your free seat!
Outside the riches each NJCOOP tournament brings, if you plan to play a bunch of events you can earn a share of $10,000 for free by climbing your way up the PokerStars NJCOOP Leader Board. The top 15 spots will share some of the $10,000 and if you finish in first place you will walk away with a free $2,000 in tournament money!

Learn About the First Ever PokerStars Festival
Recently, PokerStars announced it was revamping all of its live tournaments into a new brand called the PokerStars Festival. The first-ever PokerStars Festival will be held at Resorts Casino Hotel in Atlantic City from Oct. 29 to Nov. 6 and feature 50 different gaming events including poker tournaments and casino-style events.
Here is a look at some of the highlights of the festival:
- October 30-31, 2016, $340 PokerStars Cup
- November 1-5, 2016, $1,100 PokerStars Festival Main Event
- November 4-5, 2016, $2,200 PokerStars Festival High Roller
- November 4-6, 2016, $230 PokerStars Open
- October 31 - November 4, 2016, StarsFun Skills Zone
- October 30 - November 6, 2016, StarsFun Casino Festival
While all of the events on the schedule should prove to be lucrative, the one most poker players have their eyes on is the PokerStars Festival NJ Main Event which takes place from Nov. 1-5. There are plenty of ways to win tickets for a fraction of the cost via satellites or even for free via promotions including the one we listed above.
There are many other great ways to win free seats. First of all, every day from Oct. 3-8 and Oct. 10-15 there are PokerStars Festival New Jersey Freerolls running which feed into two final freeroll tournaments that each award two free seats to the Main Event.
