The 888poker LIVE tour is in Glasgow, Scotland, for the second leg of the 2025 schedule. While the £888 buy-in, £250,000 guaranteed Main Event is a couple of days away, the festival is in full swing. Three side events have crowned their champions, with Majid Iqbal capturing the largest score, namely £10,130.

Iqbal won the £230 Crazy 8 Opening Event. Some 277 players bought in and built a £52,630 pot, and Iqbal took home £10,130 of that princely sum. The prize money Iqbal banked pushed his live poker tournament earnings toward $300,000.

The £230 Crazy 8 Opening Event paid out the top 33 finishers. Wantao Tang, who went on to win the £330 Mystery Bounty event, was one of the first in-the-money finishers. Others included Andrew Hawksby, Kevin Frame, and final table bubble boy Alexander Rizvi.

£230 Crazy 8 Opening Event Final Table Results

1Majid Iqbal£10,130
2Haoran Dai£7,560
3Martin Byrne£5,690
4Stephen McCabe£4,300

6William McClure£2,470
7Michael Kane£1,900
8Jamie Geraghty£1,490
9Ciaran McCullagh£1,200

Ciaran McCullagh's time at the final table was limited because he busted in ninth place for £1,200. McCullagh has some impressive results on his resume, including a victory in the £444 Opening Event of the 888poker LIVE London festival in January 2022 that earned him £40,487. More recently, McCullagh finished 71st in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) for $140,000.

The 2024 888poker UKPL Manchester Main Event champion, Jamie Geraghty, crashed out in eighth for £1,490 before Michael Kane, winner of the UKPL Edinburgh Main Event last February, fell in seventh for £1,900.

William McClure then headed to the cashier's desk to collect the £2,470 sixth-place prize money. Paul McTaggart, a player with more than $2 million in earnings across online and live poker tournaments, came unstuck in fifth for £3,260.

Fourth place and £4,300 went to Stephen McCabe before Martin Byrne busted in third for a career-best £5,690.

Iqbal defeated Haoran Dai heads-up to resign the runner-up to a £7,560 consolation prize and to claim the £10,130 top prize for himself.

The victory is the latest in a long line of impressive results Iqbal has enjoyed, and his sixth cash tipping the scales at more than £10,000. In September 2021, Iqbal came out on top of the £750 GUKPT Edinburgh Main Event and saw his bankroll swell by £61,220. More recently, he finished seventh in the £1,500 Grosvenor UK Open in February 2024 for £20,170.

Look for Iqbal's name in the upcoming 888poker LIVE Glasgow tournaments, including the £888 Main Event, which starts on March 19.
