Diamond Poker Series

The Diamond Poker Series has made a big splash in the live poker scene since its launch, not least because it offers schedules filled with high-stakes Pot-Limit Omaha games. The latest Diamond Poker Series stop, the PLO Grand Slam Tallinn runs from April 4 until April 13 at the Chesterfield Poker Club, and PokerNews will be there to bring you live updates from three massive PLO tournaments.

Everything kicks off on April 4 with the first tournament boasting a seven-figure prize pool. The €2,200 PLO Million Opener has five flights between April 4-8 before concluding on April 9. By the time the final hand is dealt, this event will have awarded at least €1 million to the players finishing in the money places.

While the €2,200 Opener is wrapping up on April 9, the first of two flights in the €5,200 The €5K Million shuffles up and deals, another tournament with a €1 million guarantee on its prize pool.

Earlier this year, at the Diamond Poker Series Tiarna in the Albanian capital city, Netherlands' Tom Vogelsang came out on top of a 225-strong crowd in the equivalent event and won a cool €234,000. Second-placed Sean Rafael and an anonymous third-place finisher also padded their bankrolls with six-figure hauls.

The €5,200 buy-in event has twice broken the record for the largest attendance for a PLO event with that pricepoint held on European soil. The inaugural event attracted 210 players, with the latest one seeing 225 players enter. Will the Tallinn edition break the record again?

Sandwiched between several satellites, a €1,100 PLO 5-Card Turbo, a €5,200 PLO Mystery Bounty, and a €25,500 High Roller is the biggest guaranteed event of the Diamond Poker Series Tallinn festivities. The €10,300 PLO €10K Championship boasts a massive €1,500,000 guaranteed prize pool that should see most of the final table help themselves to huge prizes.

Again, in Tirana in January, this event drew in 191 entrants who built a pot containing €1,880,000. Norway's Tom-Aksel Bedell came out on top and turned his investment into a €438,000 prize, which was the Norwegian's largest single haul at the time. Expect Bedell to head to the Estonian capital as he attempts to defend his title.

Wrapping up the Tallinn series is the big one, the €25,500 Grand Slam High Roller. Such a high buy-in restricts this event to the best PLO players on the planet, or at least to those with deep pockets. Italian star Dario Alioto is the reigning champion, having sent Finland's Joni Jouhkimainen home in second place in January to lift the trophy and the €278,000 top prize.
