WPT Global Summer Festival

The $8 million guaranteed Summer Festival wrapped up on WPT Global over the weekend, and it's safe to say WPT Global's management staff will be delighted with how the series panned out. Some 15,850 players from 80 countries logged into their WPT Global accounts during the Summer Festival, highlighting the popularity of the online poker room and the superb tournament series it hosts.

Every event on the bustling WPT Global Summer Series schedule was eagerly anticipated, but a trio stood out from the crowd.

The WPT500 was the first of three special events. It attracted 898 players who created a $449,000 prize pool. The lion's share, namely $83,109, found its way to a worthy champion in the shape of 两弹一星. According to Google Translate, the WPT500 champion's name translates to "Liang dan yi xing", or literally "Two bombs and one star." We like that name.

The $1,100 WPT Prime event saw 615 players buy in, resulting in an $135,000 overlay on the $750,000 guaranteed prize pool. "Sucra71" was the main beneficiary of the added money because they emerged victoriously, getting a cool $145,312, plus a shot at the $10,400 WPT World Championship at Wynn Las Vegas this coming December.

Guaranteeing $1,000,000 and costing $3,500 to enter, the WPT Championship was the flagship event of the WPT Global Summer Festival. By the time late registration closed, 283 players had entered, including a handful of WPT Global's stable of seasoned professionals.

Brad "BradOwen1" Owen put together a deep run, which ended in a 31st place finish worth $7,300. Jon "apestyles" Van Fleet navigated his way to the hotly contested final table, where he came unstuck in fifth place for a cool $59,200.

However, Patrick "Egption" Tardif was WPT Global's man of the hour, progressing to a heads-up clash with "pas1161br." The one-on-one battle spanned two hours before Tardif fell at the final hurdle. Tardif, one of WPT Global's newest team members, turned his $3,500 investment into $130,640, having finished third in the $220 Summer Festival Championship earlier in the series for an additional $25,859.

The WPT Championship champion enjoyed a massive $206,300 payday and a $10,400 seat to the WPT World Championship in Las Vegas later this year.

The Summer Festival may be done and dusted, but there's still plenty going on at WPT Global to whet your appetite before the Fall Festival comes around later this year. WPT Global has the softest cash games of any online poker site, generous rewards like the incredible welcome offer and 20% rakeback Table Starter Booster, and prides itself on being transparent and fair to players of all experience and skill levels.
