Niklas Astedt

Sweden's Niklas "Lena900" Astedt finished third in the 2024 World Series of Poker (WSOP) Main Event a little under a week ago, a result worth a career-best $4 million. Most poker players would have taken some time to rest and recuperate, but Astedt is not like most, as evidenced by his hitting the online poker tables on Sunday!

Astedt was one of 46 entrants in the $5,200 Titans Event, the largest buy-in weekly tournament PokerStars offers. The compact yet stellar field mean only the top six finishers won a slice of the $230,000 prize pool.

Rodrigo "seijistar" Seiji was the first of the nine finalists to bow out and do so empty-handed. Pedro "pm_marke" Marques joined Seiji on the rail soon after, followed by bubble boy David "MissOracle" Yan.

Yan's demise locked in at least $12,165 for the surviving players. The United Kingdom's "lowfoam" helped themselves to that sum before Michael "imluckbox" Addamo joined the ever-growing list of busted players; Addamo collected $17,768.

Fourth place and $25,951 went to superstar Spaniard Juan "Malaka$tyle" Pardo, with Alexandros "Pwndidi" Theologis bowing out in third for $37,902, leaving Astedt heads-up against Leonard "Grozzorg" Maue.

There was no way these Goliaths were going to strike a deal despite a $25,000 difference in the payouts. The lack of a deal meant Astedt had to make do with a $55,358 consolation prize when he fell at the final hurdle at Maue's hands. Maue walked away with bragging rights and $80,853.

"WoWulam" is the Latest Sunday Million Champion

PokerStars Sunday Million

Some 10,158 PokerStars players bought into the latest edition of the $109 Sunday Million PKO, ensuring the $1 million guarantee was surpassed by $15,800. Half that princely sum went into the regular prize pool, with the remaining 50 percent placed into the bounty prize pool.

"WoWulam" was the last player standing in this two-day affair, their one and only $109 bullet swelling into a total prize weighing in at $77,090. An impressive $23,696 of that payout stemmed from progressive bounties, which was more than the total haul the fifth-place finisher enjoyed.

The Philippines-based champion left a host of star players in their wake. Team PokerStars' Sebastian "peace&loove" Huber was one of those top-tier players. As were Timothy "1BigAceHole" Ulmer, Tom "Jabracada" Hall, Peter "Belabasci" Traply, and "Sintoras."

All but one of the nine players who reached the final table took home five-figure hauls, including Manuel "manuverd0n" Bardon, who crashed out in seventh for $13,116.

"WoWulam" eventually found themselves heads-up against Brazilian "xX.TESSERACT.Xx" in a battle for the final bounties. First and second place were worth more than $53,300, but the final bounties were also substantial. "xX.TESSERACT.Xx" busted in second place and took home a total of $58,156, leaving "WoWulam" to add the Sunday Million to their list of poker accomplishments and $77,090 to their bankroll.

MicroMillions Main Event Ends in a Three-Way Chop

PokerStars MicroMillions

The MicroMillions festival ended during the weekend with the crowning of the Main Event champion. Costing $22 and guaranteeing $500,000, the MicroMillions Main Event represented incredible value, one reason 24,599 players turned out for it.

Four of the finalists turned their affordable $22 investments into scores worth more than $11,000. Unsurprisingly, the MicroMillions Main Event ended in a chop. The final three players struck a deal that saw them each win $19,176 from the regular prize pool, which, when bounties were added, increased their payouts substantially.

"Pysch0P4th" finished in third and took home $24,054, "akamion9" of Greece banked $21,259 for their runner-up finish while "vinivarella22" of Brazil was named the 2024 MicroMillions Main Event champion and padded their bankroll with $28,319.
