After two days of play, David Coleman is this year's third and final WPT Alpha8 Trifecta champion.

Coleman earned $730,300 for his win, representing his biggest live cash to date and his second big cash in a WPT Alpha8 Trifecta event after coming sixth in WPT Alpha8 Trifecta #1.

The three WPT Alpha8 Trifecta events have been playing out at the Wynn Las Vegas as part of the Wynn Summer Classic festival. All three two-day events had a $25,000 buy-in that attracted a who's who of poker greats.

The winners of the two previous 2024 WPT Alpha8 Trifecta events, Brock Wilson and Daniel Sepiol had to beat fields of 78- and 108-players respectively. Coleman's victory, therefore, required that he beat the biggest of the three events with 117 entries, generating a prize pool of nearly $2.8 million.

Coleman started as an online grinder, but now he mostly plays live high-roller events like this one. As a result, he came to the final table with plenty of ammunition in more ways than one. In addition to his experience, he was also near the top of the chip counts when the final table action started.

The final table included high-stakes regulars like Martin Raus (3rd - $355,000), Andrew Lichtenberger (4th - $265,000), Roman Hrabec (6th - $154,000), and Isaac Haxton (8th - $92,000).

However, Coleman was rarely in danger, maintaining his relative chip advantage all the way to heads up, where he took on Nikita Kuznetsov (also at his second Trifecta final table).

“I lost some pots early on, but it was pretty smooth overall,” he told the WPT after his win. “I can’t complain; I had the chip lead for pretty much the entire final table!”

Coleman's win also cemented his spot among the top eight players on the WPT Alpha8 Trifecta leaderboard. As a result of this success, Coleman won a seat at the WPT World Championship in December.

Kuznetsov won $480,000 for his second-place finish.
